Based in Los Angeles, Steele will lead the sales team with a focus on both primary and secondary market sales, build new client relationships and work with Hauser & Wirth's artists to manage their global presence and forge new connections. He will also have responsibility for developing and curating site-specific projects and exhibitions.

New York NY... Beginning 26 June, Hauser & Wirth will present 'The Photographic Object, 1970', an ambitious historical exhibition exploring the legacy of Peter Bunnell's landmark 1970 show 'Photography into Sculpture', presented at the The Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Iwan Wirth, president and owner of Hauser & Wirth, the internationally acclaimed gallery of contemporary art and modern masters with exhibition spaces in Zurich, London, and New York, announced today the company's new Los Angeles venue will be located at 901 East 3rd Street, in a historic 100,000 square foot flour mill complex in the city's burgeoning downtown Arts District. Under the direction of partner Paul Schimmel, Hauser Wirth & Schimmel will transform the site's sprawling collection of late 19th and early 20th century buildings and outdoor spaces into a dynamic multi-disciplinary arts center. The new venue will offer innovative exhibitions, museum-caliber amenities, and a robust schedule of public programs that contextualize the art on view, drawing upon, illuminating, and contributing to the urban culture of L.A. Like Hauser & Wirth Somerset, the gallery's exhibition and outdoor art facility opening in July 2014 on the historic Durslade Farm at the edge of the ancient town of Bruton in southwest England, Hauser Wirth & Schimmel proposes a new paradigm for the 21st century art gallery.

Hauser & Wirth is pleased to announce that internationally acclaimed curator and scholar Paul Schimmel has been named a partner of the gallery. Schimmel joins Iwan Wirth, Manuela Wirth and Marc Payot in leading an enterprise founded over 20 years ago. Described by The Financial Times as 'a marketplace of ideas', Hauser & Wirth has locations in Zurich, London and New York. Its program focuses upon significant contemporary artists and includes historical surveys and thematic group exhibitions that advance new dialogues about art. The gallery represents over 50 established and emerging contemporary artists, as well as the estates of Eva Hesse, Allan Kaprow, Josephsohn, Lee Lozano, Jason Rhoades, Dieter Roth, Philippe Vandenberg and the Henry Moore Family Collection.
