'Central Park Five' to Attend THE BULLPEN This Weekend for Post-Show Talk

The Central Park Five, the group of five young black and Latino youths falsely arrested and convicted in 1989 for the brutal beating and rape of a white woman in Central Park, will attend a performance of The Bullpen, the one-man - 18-character comedy written and performed by Joe Assadourian, (now playing through March 21) at The Playroom Theater (151 West 46th Street -- just east of Broadway) it was announced today by producer Eric Krebs (in association with The Fortune Society).

Eric Krebs (in association with The Fortune Society) is pleased to announce that The Bullpen, the one-man - 18-character comedy - which The New York Times calls 'wildly funny' and 'a tour de force' by The Huffington Post will celebrate its 100thperformance on Friday, January 2nd at 7pm. Released from Otisville Correctional Institution in October of 2013 after serving 12 of his 25 year sentence for attempted murder, actor/writer Joe Assadourian went from the cage to the stage after discovering his theatrical ability while reluctantly participating in a workshop behind bars led by Off-Broadway solo-show actor/director Richard Hoehler. Developed by the duo over two years, both inside and outside the state prison system, The Bullpen premiered Off Broadway at The Playroom Theater (151 West 46thStreet - just east of Broadway) on June 22, 2014 for a strictly limited engagement. Due to popular demand, the show has enjoyed several extensions and continues performances into 2015.

Receiving rave reviews during its summer run, Writer/Actor Joe Assadourian's hit Off-Broadway Comedy THE BULLPEN has opened ticket sales through November 22nd, 2014 at The Playroom Theater. The show, which is directed by Richard Hoehler, is largely influenced by Joe Assadourian's experiences having served 12 years in prison for attempted murder. This extension will include a celebratory performance on October 8th, which will mark the first anniversary of Joe Assadourian's release from Otisville Correctional Facility. The New York Times praised the one man show exclaiming that Joe Assadourian "is one terrific actor," "marvelous," and "extremely funny."

Jim McGreevey, the 52nd Governor of New Jersey, made a special appearance at the Saturday, June 28th, evening performance of Joe Assadourian's The Bullpen. A service volunteer to former prisoners seeking rehabilitation with the Exodus Transitional Community, McGreevey stopped for a photo with Playwright/Actor Joe Assadourian and Fortune Society Founder David Rothenberg.

The duo has developed the work now for over two years, both inside and outside the state prison system, and it premieres Off-Broadway this summer.
