Marcus Lemones Searches for THE PARTNER in All-New CNBC Series Premiering 2/28

CNBC today announced the ten finalists participating in THE PARTNER, the all-new series featuring Marcus Lemonis –the renowned investor, entrepreneur, and host of CNBC's hit show “The Profit.” Premiering Tuesday, February 28 at 10pm ET/PT, the five episode series follows Lemonis as he searches for the perfect partner to help him manage the fast-growing portfolio of businesses he's acquired. In the end, one candidate will receive the opportunity of a lifetime: a half-million dollar contract, an equity stake, and the chance to help Lemonis manage his empire. Pegasus Theatre Chicago Announces 30th YOUNG PLAYWRIGHTS FESTIVAL Featuring Four New Works by Emerging Artists

Pegasus Theatre Chicago is proud to announce the authors and plays being presented at the 30th Young Playwrights Festival, January 4 - 29 at Pegasus's resident home Chicago Dramatists, 773 N. Aberdeen. This year's world premieres, written by high school students and given a staged professional production, explore the theme of 'Assumptions.' Each winning production is performed in tandem Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. with weekday student matinees. Previews are Today, Jan. 4 - Saturday, Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Opening night is Sunday, Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. Tickets are $18 - $30 and available at PegausTheatreChicago.com or by phone at 866.811.4111.

There are undoubtedly other productions worthy of merit in 2016 which I did not cover. This list is based only on what I saw and reviewed. (alphabetical listings; Equity, Equity-waiver & Non-Equity productions are mixed) (artists performing outside LA may be included in performance categories) No set, costume, technical awards. I leave that to the bigger awards and to the expertise of those who really know those fields inside out.

THE MISMATCH GAME Returns Los Angeles LGBT Center, Friday 1/20

It's time once again to "get ready to match the stars" with a new edition of Dennis Hensley's The MisMatch Game, the show the Los Angeles Times calls, "witty, ribald ... an adventure in surrealist era bending." The side-splitting parody of the 70s game show returns to the Los Angeles LGBT Center's Renberg Theatre for two hilarious nights on Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 8pm. 

THE ROSENKRANZ MYSTERIES Extends at The Royal George Cabaret

Classic as well as never-before-seen illusions have amazed audiences at the Royal George Cabaret space, as the nationally regarded illusionist Ricardo Rosenkranz stars in The Rosenkranz Mysteries, an evening of magic to lift the spirits. The astounding numbers have captivated audiences in its cabaret style setting with tables featured in the space. This one-man, 90-minute production runs through January 22 at the Royal George Theatre's Cabaret space, 1641 North Halsted Street.

Opera San José Presents the West Coast Premiere of Puts' and Campbell's Moving Drama SILENT NIGHT

One of the most inspiring operas in decades, Silent Night recounts the miraculous day of peace during WWI when Scottish, French and German soldiers defy their superiors and negotiate a Christmas Eve truce among themselves. The soldiers, bloodied from battle and mourning their dead, soon become brothers as a carol begins, floating softly over no man's land to celebrate Christmas.
