BroadwayWorld reviews Paramount Theatre's 'Cats.' The felines prowling the stage at Aurora's Paramount Theatre have truly been given the five-star treatment. On a perfectly polished (and monstrous) set by Kevin Depinet (along with projections by Michael Stanfill), they are given plenty of room to jump, climb, and play. They are donned in those iconic (expertly designed by Theresa Ham, with wigs and make-up by Katie Cordts and Lauren Cecil) leotards and furry hats. And, most impressive, they have been lit in brilliant colors by lighting extraordinaire, Jesse Klug. The aesthetic appeal on the Paramount stage is top-notch and one of the main reasons this production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's 'Cats' is as fully satisfying as this musical gets.

Goodman Theatre presents Brigadoon. Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's legendary musical of Broadway's Golden Age, under director/choreographer Rachel Rockwell, tells the enchanting tale of an 18th century Scottish village that appears every century for one day only -- and the complications that arise when it's discovered by two 20th century Americans. Book writer Brian Hill revisits the libretto for this production, while music director Roberta Duchak and an orchestra of 13 use new orchestrations to enhance Loewe's lilting score. Charity Hope Valentine is a dancehall girl who dreams of love and believes the man of her dreams is just around the corner. A great score, including the songs 'Hey Big Spender!' and 'If My Friends Could See Me Now,' incredible dancing - originally choreographed by Broadway legend Bob Fosse - and one of the most memorable heroines of the past sixty years combine to make Sweet Charity a must-see show. Never before produced at PTC, Sweet Charity is a razzle-dazzle closer for the 2013-14 season.

Casting is complete and rehearsals begin May 20 for Goodman Theatre's new production of Brigadoon-Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe's big, beautiful and beguiling song and dance fantasy. Chicago director/choreographer Rachel Rockwell, hailed as a "brilliant, insightful, mistress-of-grand-scale musicals" (Chicago Sun-Times) and named "2012 Chicagoan of the Year" by the Chicago Tribune, makes her Goodman debut.
