On Today, September 29, 2016, WHITE WAVE Dance celebrates the 16th Anniversary season of the DUMBO Dance Festival (DDF) with a Gala Opening that heralds the most anticipated four-day festival of contemporary dance in the greater New York City region.

Come join WHITE WAVE's 16th Annual DUMBO Dance Festival at the Gelsey Kirkland ArtsCenter from Sept. 29th–Oct. 2nd, 2016. 70 contemporary dance troupes with over 325 performing artists will showcase their work for four nights and three days in a marathon of dance innovation.

A gracious speech given by Jonathan Hollander - Artistic Director of Battery Dance Company - opened the 35th annual Battery Dance Festival. There was a welcome emphasis on all that went into making this festival possible, including calls for thanks to: Council member Margaret Chin and her continued support, American Express for two years of support, Holiday Inn for giving eighty free rooms - for the full run of the festival - to out-of-town artists, Mary McCormick and Funds for the City of New York for their support, Air India for flying the participating artists of India to New York, and the doctors of Weill Cornell who were on standby 'just in case'. Mr. Hollander closed his remarks with a special thank you to the main sponsors of the festival: 'The artists; they do it because they want to be here in front of you, the public.'

Norte Maar, a committed international think-tank dedicated to the creation, promotion, and presentation of collaborations in the disciplines of the visual, literary, and the performing arts, together with Brooklyn Ballet, present CounterPointe, April 8-10, 2016 in downtown Brooklyn's The Actors Fund Arts Center. This annual curated performance series features new work by women choreographers for pointe. For this, its fourth iteration, 7 women choreographers have been paired with 7 Brooklyn based women visual artists to collaborate and create both a new physical and visual work by each--investigating the process of creation, inspiration and development.
