Do Not Miss Topol in his 'Farewell Tour' as Tevye

Revisiting one of the great performances in the history of modern American musical theater, local theater devotees will have the opportunity to once again experience the brilliant TOPOL as he performs his Oscar-nominated role of Tevye in his farewell tour of the multi Tony Award-winning Broadway musical FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Playing Tuesday, October 6 through Sunday, October 18, FIDDLER marks the opening show of the Broadway Across America-Ft. Lauderdale 2009-2010 season which will present six-major musical productions presented by Florida Theatrical Association at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.

When a property as old and as sacred as FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is revived for new audiences, one would expect either a fresh, new take on a familiar show, or a disastrous series of experiments that disparages its source material. Neither is the case in the current touring production of the classic stage musical. For those seeking a safe, well-executed return to a good, old-fashioned book musical, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF fits the (play)bill nicely.

While their show's in town, cast members of the current 'Farewell Tour' of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF starring Topol will be 'Fiddlin' Around' at Hollywood's famed Gardenia Supper Club in a one-night-only cabaret, silent auction, and raffle benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, the nation's leading entertainment industry-based HIV/AIDS fundraising and grant-issuing organization.

Friars, Famiglia and a Yiddish 'My Way' (Mein Veg) - it's in there!

Chaim Topol and his divine supporting cast make this touring production of Fiddler, which plays Providence Performing Arts Center through February 15th, a religious experience for fans of musical theater.

Angels, the new Broadway-bound musical about an Angel who discovers her place and purpose, presented two staged readings (3:30 & 7PM) on Tuesday, December 16th at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Written by the new Australian team of Ken Lai (book, music and lyrics) and Marcus Cheong (book and lyrics), the readings featured Robert Cuccioli, Jessica Grov? and Nicholas Rodriguez in the leading roles. Direction is by Rich Fowler.

On Monday, August 4, 2008 the Friars Club presented DIVA NIGHT! in the Frank Sinatra Dining Room at the Friars Club. The evening was Hosted & Produced by Randie Levine-Miller and starred Christine Andreas, Anna Bergman, Beth Fowler, Alice Frazier, Liz McCartney, Rena Strober, Christianne Tisdale, Deborah Tranelli. Paul Chamlin served as Musical Director for the evening. The theater and cabaret stars performed songs from 'The Broadway Songbook'.

Angels, a new musical based on Milton's epic poem, Paradise Lost, will premiere on Broadway during the 2008-9 season. Written by the new Australian team of Ken Lai (book, music and lyrics) and Marcus Cheong (book and lyrics), Angels will feature a cast of 24, including Robert Cuccioli, Jessica Grové and Nicholas Rodriguez, in the leading roles. The musical will be directed by Rich Fowler.

'Beauty and the Beast' at the Westchester Broadway Theatre starring Joseph Mahowald and Rena Strober.

Disney's lavish musical is the classic love story of Belle, a kind-hearted but misunderstood young woman, and the Beast, a pompous prince who has been turned into an animal by the spell of an enchantress. To break the spell, the Beast must learn to love and be loved. Belle could be his chance, if only the Beast can control his anger and find the heart that he never had as a man. But time is running out and if he does not learn his lesson soon, he will be doomed to live in isolation for all eternity.

On December 10, Broadway Veteran Chip Zien will host 'Monday Nights, New Voices' year end wrap up concert with a bevy of stars and New Voice alumni from this past years series.
