San Francisco Opera Announces 2017-2018 Season

San Francisco Opera General Director Matthew Shilvock and Music Director Nicola Luisotti today announced plans for the 2017-18 repertory season. The Company's 95th season will open Friday, September 8 with a gala performance of Giacomo Puccini'sTurandot led by Maestro Luisotti and an international cast starring Martina Serafin, Maria Agresta and Brian Jagde.

Seattle Opera Expands Programs, Performances in 2017/18

Opera is for everyone-and so is Seattle Opera's 2017/18 season! There's a new bilingual performance for elementary-school students, new performance venues such as Georgetown Steam Plant, a new mainstage collaboration with ACT Theatre and Seattle Symphony leaders, and even an outdoor performance offered free of charge. Regardless of background or socioeconomic status, this season offers ways for a broad audience to be able to experience opera; it's an open invitation for the Pacific Northwest.

Pittsburgh Opera Announces Shows In 2016-2017

 Pittsburgh Opera announces its 2016-2017 season. The season includes the very first world premiere in our 78 year history and two Pennsylvania premieres. The season will encompass four operas produced at the Benedum Center and two Resident Artist operas - the annual production at Pittsburgh CAPA Theater and the Second Stage Project at Pittsburgh Opera Headquarters.

Right on the heels of A Chorus Line's final performance last weekend, Grease continues a wonderful summer season at the Playhouse by bringing youthful energy and pizazz to a show that is on almost everyone's list of favorite musicals. This production brings together a rather large cast whose energy and eagerness to present what they have all been working so hard on is evident in the characters they play in the midst of all the hullaballoo and teenage angst that Grease already is.

Minnesota Opera is pleased to announce its first production of 2014. Verdi's dark-hued Macbeth examines the corrosive consequences of tyranny. At the urging of his wife, Macbeth murders the king to claim the crown. His desperate and deadly reign of terror devastates his country and hastens his doom in this masterwork based upon Shakespeare's classic thriller. The Show Premieres Saturday, January 25th, and runs through February 2nd at Ordway, 345 Washington Street, Saint Paul, MN 55102. The show is sung in Italian with English surtitles projected above the stage.

Bicentennial Celebration of Verdi, Wagner Features Loyola Symphony, Chorus & More Tonight

A free concert commemorating the 200th birthdays of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner features the Loyola Symphony Orchestra and Loyola Chorus alongside special guests and Metropolitan Opera stars Alfred Walker '96, Greer Grimsley '76 and Luretta Bybee. The program will include selections from Verdi's 'Otello,' 'Aida' and 'La Traviata,' as well as Wagner's 'The Flying Dutchman' and 'Die Walkure,' including the famed 'Ride of the Valkyries.'

American Symphony Season Opener to Recapture 1913 New York Armory Show, 10/3

Seattle Opera Announces 50th Anniversary Season

Seattle Opera today announced the company's 50th Anniversary Season. Performances of Wagner's Ring kick off the festivities this summer, followed by a subscription series of four operas. Starring singers beloved by the opera-goers of Seattle, the 2013/14 season offers subscribers a healthy variety of comedy and tragedy, reality and fantasy, in a mix of different musical styles and languages. Seattle Opera's anniversary celebration then climaxes in August 2014 with the International Wagner Competition and a special celebration honoring Speight Jenkins, the company's General Director since 1983.

Alfred Walker Performs at Loyola University New Orleans

Loyola University New Orleans alumnus Alfred Walker '96 will perform a solo voice recital on Saturday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Roussel Performance Hall, located in the Communications/Music Complex, on the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Calhoun Street.

Manatee Players Perform GUYS AND DOLLS, 2/17-3/6

The popular hit musical GUYS AND DOLLS opens at the Manatee Players on February 17 and plays through March 6. Performances are Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 including facility fee for adults and $11 including facility fee for students.
