The Strand Theater proudly presents its third season in the Station North Arts and Entertainment District, featuring a lineup of progressive female playwrights. 'Strong female voices are what have set the Strand apart from other local theaters,' states Artistic Director, Jayme Kilburn. 'In our third season we are celebrating our mission with a slate of plays by women that are rarely produced.'

Chicago Avenue, will present the World Premiere of The Invasion of Skokie, a 2010 finalist in the Dorothy Silver Playwriting Competition by Network Playwright Steven Peterson. The Invasion of Skokie will preview September 2, open September 10 and 11, and run through October 10, 2010. Associate Artistic Director Richard Perez will direct.

The FreshPlay Festival merges the voices and creativity of urban youth with the experience of professionals, creating provocative, innovative and fresh theater. This year, the FreshPlay Festival will focus on the workshop process with ten original plays penned by MCC Theater Youth Company playwrights. These young writers will work with a roster of professional directors, actors and peers from the Youth Company's Acting Lab.

The Guthrie Theater today announced that Sarah Agnew (currently appearing as Beatrice in Yale Rep's production of The Servant of Two Masters) will lead the cast of Rebecca Gilman's Dollhouse, playing Nora in a modern-day critique of middle-class life in an adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's groundbreaking and controversial masterpiece A Doll's House (previously seen at the Guthrie in 1996).

The company features Craig Bierko, Alice Eve, Johnny Galecki, Josh Hamilton, Justin Long, and Julia Stiles, who will take on a variety of plum LaBute roles in this series of 'shorts.' The readings continue tonight, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lucille Lortel Theatre.
