Dinu Lipatti presents 100th Anniversary Concert 4/27 at Benaroya Hall
by A.A. Cristi
- Mar 23, 2017
The American Romanian Cultural Society (ARCS) pays homage to one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century: Romanian born Dinu Lipatti. On April 27, 2017 at 7pm Benaroya Hall's acoustically rich Illsley Ball Nordstrom Recital Hall hosts this very special 100th anniversary musical celebration. Lipatti fulfilled a startling variety of roles - pianist, composer, teacher and critic -before his untimely death from cancer at age 33. Posthumously elected to the Romanian Academy, Lipatti brought outstanding contributions to classical music interpretation and composition. His pianism demonstrated an ideal synthesis of a composer's analytical insight and expressive inwardness. Internationally acclaimed violinist and pianist Alexandru Tomescu (violin) and Angela Draghicescu (piano) pay tribute to Dinu Lipatti in an exquisite chamber concert featuring works by Beethoven, Bach, Bartok and Gershwin as well as the Seattle premiere of Dinu Lipatti's rarely performed Sonatina for Violin and Piano.

BWW Review: Get Ready to Play Your Part in DELUSION: His Crimson Queen, an Interactive Horror Experience
by Shari Barrett
- Oct 7, 2016
DELUSION is the premiere first-person horror experience where audiences are an essential part of the storyline. In order for the Sullivan children to make good on their quest, they must interact with their environment by unearthing clues, engaging with the strange and surreal characters of the villa - all the while doing our best to survive and not stumble on precariously dark staircases while dealing with many surprise characters who pop out of the most unexpected places. But the experience is more than just vampires popping out. YOU are part of the action and can wield incredible personal power to hold off danger, especially when the entire audience of 12 works together. You really will feel you are part of the unfolding story.
