Since he became the artistic director of Cleveland Public Theatre, Raymond Bobgan has set a clear path. He has organized a theatre that centers on practicality. It lives within its means, is well organized and is artistically creative. The play productions respond to 'the political events, societal movements and new technology.' It has a spiritual mission that places 'high value on truth, even if that truth cannot be easily packaged or explained.'
Cleveland Public Theatre is noted for championing works by local artists. The theatre's newest offering, EARTH PLAYS (Part Two of the Elements Cycle) invited directors, performers and writers to focus on the themes of the earth and sustainability, using the technique of devised theater.
It is the purpose of THE CLEVELAND CRITICS CIRCLE AWARDS to recognize outstanding Cleveland area productions, performers, directors and others who were involved in those offerings during the 2012 year. Awards are considered for those theatres which the members review and the categories agreed upon by the members of the organization. On Saturday, April 14 the lights went up on a new small entertainment stage in Cleveland area. The space, upstairs of the Cleveland Public Theatre, is the home of UP Cabaret, the brain child of Paul Hoffman.

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national service organization for the professional not-for-profit American theatre, which also serves as the U.S. Center of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), is pleased to announce the recipients of the TCG/ITI Travel Grants for Fall/Winter 2009.
North American Cultural Laboratory (www.NACL.org), Brad Krumholz and Tannis Kowalchuk, Co-Artistic Directors, will present the Manhattan premiere of 'THE UNCANNY APPEARANCE OF SHERLOCK HOLMES,' based on a story written by Mr. Krumholz and created by NACL in collaboration with the ensemble. Krumholz also directs. Performances begin on December 2 at HERE Arts Center (www.here.org), 145 Sixth Avenue (between Spring and Broome Streets, enter on Dominick Street), and the show will officially open on Thursday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m. Performances will run through Sunday, December 21.
