Singer/Songwriter Natalia Safran's 'Say Goodbye' Single Out Now; Salon Series So Far a Success

Following the tragic death of her friend Paul Walker, whose final film she penned the title song for; Singer/Songwriter Natalia Safran vowed to give back to the community whenever possible. Recently she hosted the first ever Salon Series at her Beverly Hills residence. The evening featured an intimate performance by students from the Music Unites Centennial High School Jazz Ensemble, a program started last summer in the Compton Unified School District. Safran was joined by Actor/Director David Arquette (pictured left), “Rock of Ages” star Diego Boneta, KIIS FM's DJ Skee and others.

On December 10, 2013 Diane Schuur turned 60. She also completed her first-ever recording in homage to her two most important and influential mentors: Stan Getz (who discovered her at the Monterey Jazz Festival in 1979) and Frank Sinatra, whose artwork hangs prominently in her Palm Springs home. Entitled I Remember You (With Love to Stan and Frank), the album of twelve songs, all previously recorded by Getz or Sinatra, or both, was produced by Diane and her new manager, Mary Ann Topper, at Avatar Studios in New York, and is set for release on Jazzheads, June 10, 2014. It also features a stellar cast of musicians, including: Alan Broadbent (arrangements/piano), Roni Ben-Hur and Romero Lubambo (guitars), Joel Frahm (saxophone) , Ben Wolfe (bass) and Ulysses Owens Jr. on drums.

Atlantic Records will release the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the most nominated musical revival of the season, featuring Tony Award nominees Neil Patrick Harris and Lena Hall. Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts at Brooklyn College has announced its 2014-15 music series. This year's lineup includes 60th Anniversary Season opener Bobby McFerrin, a holiday concert by Sweet Honey in the Rock, South Africa's Lady Smith Black Mambazo, a tribute to Woody Guthrie by the Klezmatics, a cappella superstars Take 6, and Eddie Palmieri performing with his Latin Jazz Septet. These musical events reflect the artistic excellence and cultural diversity to which Brooklyn Center is dedicated. The season also features children's concerts by Black Violin and Nick Jr. favorites Hot Peas 'N Butter.
