Court Theatre Extends Smash-Hit FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE

Court Theatre, under the continuing leadership of Charles Newell, Marilyn F. Vitale Artistic Director, and Stephen J. Albert, Executive Director, announces the extension of Five Guys Named Moe by Clarke Peters, directed by Resident Artist Ron OJ Parson, Music Director Abdul Hamid Royal and Associate Director Felicia P. Fields. Five Guys Named Moe, which features Louis Jordan's greatest hits, now runs through October 15, 2017 at Court Theatre, 5535 S. Ballet Hispanico Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With Dance

Ballet Hispanico will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15, 2017 with free events, performances, exhibitions and dance lessons for children and adults. Events include a Salsa Extravaganza, an 'A la Calle' Block Party, an Instituto Coreografico dance showing and discussion, an intimate Tablao flamenco performance, and an exhibition of visual artwork at the Ballet Hispanico's headquarters, The Arnhold Center, at 167 W. 89th Street.

New York Philharmonic to Premiere STAR WARS Film Concert Series This Fall

The New York Philharmonic will present the World Premiere of Star Wars Film Concert Series, September 15-October 7, 2017, featuring screenings of four complete films from the saga - A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, and The Force Awakens - with Oscar-winning composer John Williams's musical scores performed live to film. The concerts will be led by acclaimed conductor David Newman.

Toronto Symphony Orchestra Welcomes New Members; RBC Resident Conductor & TSYO Conductor Earl Lee to Act as TSYO Artistic Director

As the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) opens its 96th season on September 19 at Roy Thomson Hall, eight new musicians join the ensemble: Kelly Zimba, Principal Flute; Charles Settle, Principal Percussion; Michael Chiarello, Associate Principal Double Bass; Miles Jaques, Bass Clarinet; Alastair Eng, Cello; Douglas Kwon, Violin; Clare Semes, Violin; and Nicholas Hartman, Horn.

Works & Process at the Guggenheim Presents THE PRINCIPLES OF UNCERTAINTY

Choreographer John Heginbotham and author/illustrator Maira Kalmandiscuss their newest collaboration featuring imaginative production design and whimsical dance theater inspired by Kalman's written work and visual art. Following the world premiere at Jacob's Pillow and before the New York premiere at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Dance Heginbotham and members of The Knights orchestra will perform highlights set to a score composed, curated, and arranged by the orchestra's artistic director Colin Jacobsen.

Simone Dinnerstein and A Far Cry Premiere New Philip Glass Concerto

In its 2017-18 season, the Grammy-nominated self-conducted chamber music collective A Far Cry joins pianist Simone Dinnerstein to premiere a new concerto for piano and strings composed for Dinnerstein by Philip Glass. In celebration of the composer's 80th birthday, select premiere performances of the concerto, paired with J. S. Bach's Keyboard Concerto in G minor, will take place in Boston, MA; New London, CT; at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University, NY; in Worcester, MA;  Palm Beach, FL; and at the Royal Conservatory in Toronto. A recording of the work for Glass' Orange Mountain Music label is scheduled for release in 2018.
