Los Angeles Opera Music Director James Conlon returns to Walt Disney Concert Hall to lead the Los Angeles Philharmonic in three performances of music by Benjamin Britten, Sergei Prokofiev and Antonín Dvorák, Friday, November 4, at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 5, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, November 6, at 2 p.m. Brilliant 24-year-old pianist Yuja Wang, whose performance of Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto at the Hollywood Bowl earlier this summer mesmerized the audience, plays Prokofiev's popular Third Piano Concerto in the program.

Patti LuPone to be Honored with Signature Theatre's 2011 Stephen Sondheim Award

The Tony Award-winning Signature Theatre will honor esteemed stage actress Patti LuPone with the company's third Stephen Sondheim Award. The award, established in 2009 in honor of America's most influential contemporary musical theater writer and composer, will be presented at a black-tie Gala Benefit on April 16, 2012 at the Embassy of Italy in Washington, DC. Signature Theatre Artistic Director Eric Schaeffer said, 'I am thrilled that Patti LuPone will be this year's recipient of the Stephen Sondheim Award. With her wonderful performances in Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Company, Passion, and more - she has had an amazing connection to Steve's words and music. It's wonderful to add her name to the distinguished honorees Angela Lansbury and Bernadette Peters. We look forward to saluting Patti and her extraordinary talents in April.'

The North Carolina Symphony announced today that celebrated pianist Andrew von Oeyen will join the orchestra for concerts in Raleigh and Chapel Hill, Sept. 30-Oct. 2. He replaces Pascal Rogé, who said in a statement that he 'sincerely regrets that due to unexpected and unforeseen health matters he must cancel his appearances with the North Carolina Symphony this week.'
