Mormon Tabernacle Choir Announces 2013 Tour

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will visit six cities in America's heartland next summer -- their first visit to the upper Midwest since 2009. The tour will include stops in Columbus, Indianapolis, Chicago, Milwaukee, Madison and Minneapolis from June 12 through June 20, 2013 and will feature the 360-voice world-renowned choir and 65 members of the Orchestra at Temple Square.
Handel and Haydn Highlight Boston Baroque's 2012-2013 Season, Opening 10/19

Boston Baroque, America's first period-instrument orchestra, has announced its 2012-2013 concert season, running from tonight, October 19, 2012 to April 20, 2013. Music Director Martin Pearlman will conduct five programs of two performances each, taking place at New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall in Boston or at Sanders Theatre at Harvard University in Cambridge. Highlights of the season will include a rarely-performed Handel comic opera, Partenope; Haydn's "Lord Nelson" Mass, which is slated to be recorded for later release on CD; Handel's Messiah at the holidays; and concerts that feature members of the orchestra and chorus in small ensemble and solo roles.

Cellist Maya Beiser will see the New York premiere of her new production, ELSEWHERE, a "CelloOpera," in four performances from tonight, October 17 through 20 at 7:30pm, during the 2012 BAM Next Wave Festival in the inaugural season of the Fishman Space, part of BAM's new Richard B. Fischer Building which opens in September 2012 at 321 Ashland Place in Brooklyn. ELSEWHERE is produced by Beth Morrison Projects.

Tonight, October 11, 2012, at New York's Symphony Space, the Chuns continue their tribute to the Hungarian composer with "Folk Inflections with Angela and Jennifer Chun," a program featuring a second set of selections of the Bartok duos along with some of Luciano Berio's Duetti per due violini, which were written in homage to Bartok; Edmund Rubbra's Phantasy for two violins and piano; and Bartok's Roumanian Folk Dances for violin and piano, which the performers have arranged for two violins and piano.

Northrop Dance and The O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University present Women of Substance. Inspired by Rosa, Soledad's mother, the term "Quebradas" literally translates into "women turning oneself inside out." It is also a flamenco dance term that refers to a dance move that only women perform, which requires a woman to perform with her chest off its axis.
