The Auditorium Theatre welcomes Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC) back to its landmark stage as the final performance of the season's 'Made in Chicago' Dance Series, Saturday, June 11 at 7:30PM. The company, led by Artistic Director Nan Giordano, returns after last year's dynamic engagement and will perform five works from the company's 157-piece repertory, including Crossing/Lines, Feelin' Good Sweet, Can't Take This Away, Sneaky Pete, and Sing, Sing, Sing. Pride Films and Plays annual fall benefit Simply Sensational: Legends will reach new heights this year when Tony Award Winner Donna McKechnie headlines the event on October 20. She will be joined on stage by other musical guests American Idol Finalist Devin Velez, Colte Julian from Million Dollar Quartet, and Ryan Lanning from Bailiwick Chicago's The Wild Party. WGN's Dean Richards serves again as the emcee, which features a preshow reception at 6 pm, the performance at 7, and a post show champagne toast with Ms. McKechnie.
The Chicago Academy for the Arts announced this morning that their 12pm Eat to the Beat performance at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance will be dedicated to the memory of author and poet Maya Angelou. The Academy Repertory Dance Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Randy Duncan, is scheduled to perform six pieces in the 45 minute lunchtime program.

Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago (GJDC) and Point Park University will present Jazz Dance World Congress 2012, an international consortium of dancers and teachers to further the legacy of jazz dance and education. This five day educational event unites teachers, dancers, and choreographers from all over the world and will take place on the campus of Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pa. from August 1-5, 2012, with additional classes and performances at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture and the Byham Theater.
