by Jan Nargi
- Oct 4, 2014
The Merrimack Repertory Theatre (MRT) in Lowell, Mass. opens its 36th season with the potent new play YEAR ZERO, a taut and touching comedic drama about a first-generation Cambodian-American teenager coming of age as he comes to grips with the death of his mother, a survivor of the horrific genocide of the Khmer Rouge and a woman who held her family together when abandoned by her husband. Set in Long Beach, California in 2003, YEAR ZERO is the only play written thus far that explores the experiences of the children of Cambodian refugees beginning new lives in America.
BWW Reviews: The Boy From Oz at Theatre Three
by Melissa Giordano
- Oct 1, 2014
The Tony nominated musical The Boy From Oz brings many emotions to the surface. The story is about the life of Australian entertainer Peter Allen. His zest for life, dealing with deteriorating health, and the love he is surrounded by create for the audience a roller coaster of feelings. For the record, Martin Sherman and Nick Enright have certainly created a story of heart and perseverance.

by Melissa Giordano
- Jun 11, 2014
Terrence McNally's Tony award winning play, Master Class, is certainly an enjoyable night of theatre. This dramatic biographical story of opera diva Maria Callas tells a tale of the retired performer as she conducts a master class cultivating new operatic talent. Jeffrey Sanzel splendidly directs this delightful incarnation running through June 28th at Theatre Three of Port Jefferson, Long Island, culminating their stellar 44th season.

by Melissa Giordano
- Sep 25, 2013
It is always interesting to see a local production of the classic Tony winning musical LES MISERABLES. It is such a huge show and to perform it locally is a huge undertaking. However, if you have a wonderful cast and the fantastic direction of Jeffrey Sanzel, the production will turn out wonderfully as Theatre Three's did.
