The increasingly popular and important playwright Sarah Ruhl, a Chicago native and finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize for "In The Next Room: or the Vibrator Play," traces her theatrical origins, in part at least, to the Piven Theatre Workshop in Evanston, or, more exactly, to its Young People's Company....

Piven Theatre Workshop closes its 2009-10 season with the Chicago premiere of Late: A Cowboy Song, written by Sarah Ruhl, directed by Jessica Thebus and featuring Polly Noonan. The production will run July 24 - August 29, 2010 at Piven Theatre Workshop, 927 Noyes Street. Press opening is Monday, July 26, 2010 at 7:30PM.

Today, the Jefferson Awards announced the 150 nominations in 35 categories for Chicago Equity theatrical productions which opened between August 1, 2007 and July 31, 2008. Beginning with this season, the Jeff Awards is acknowledging the work of Large and Midsize theatres in separate categories for productions and technical elements.
