IAMA Theatre Company has named playwright Sanaz Toossi as the 2019 recipient of the Rhimes Unsung Voices Playwriting Commission. The commission, sponsored by award-winning writer and producer Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, How To Get Away With Murder), was created to help grow and nourish budding playwrights and artists with emphasis on cultural inclusion and the goal to showcase fresh, creative, thought-provoking work.

This February marks the first MainStage Series show at Prima's new theater. The organization now offers a home for fresh theatrical experiences in Lancaster, and is taking on Disenchanted, a musical comedy, playing February 1-23.

Two theatre greats died in December 2018, both with history at the Royal Alexandra Theatre.  Dancer and teacher Blanche Lund died on December 1, 2018, and composer Galt MacDermot died on December 17, 2018. Because of the holidays the theatre did not have a chance to properly mark the passing of these remarkable people. We will do so now.

The National Board of Trustees of the Educational Theatre Foundation (ETF) has announced the appointment of Alex Birsh, Mark Drum, Carolina Garcia, and Megan Tulac to a term on the National Board from 2019 to 2021. The ETF National Board of Trustees is composed of prominent leaders across a diverse range of industries, including entertainment, finance, hospitality, law, education, and nonprofit theatre, all with a common passion for theatre education.

One of the Country's most in-demand duos, Beckie Menzie and Tom Michael, will perform their new show entitled 'That 60's Show', at the Arthur Newman Theatre on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at 2 PM. The show features popular songs from the 1960's with their unique blend of whimsical banter, nostalgic stories, and vocals talent with Beckie on the baby grand piano, and will be their Palm Springs area debut. No need to shut off the lights and run and hide when these men appear at the Music Hall. Yes, they do want to spread their faith with THE BOOK OF MORMON, the hilarious musical comedy now playing at the Kansas City Music Hall through Sunday, December 30.
