A PICASSO Runs at Promenade Playhouse, Now thru 2/15

A Picasso by Jeffrey Hatcher opens in January at the Promenade Playhouse at 1404 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica, 90401. The play runs Friday's and Saturday's at 8 p.m. tonight, January 10th and January 11th, 17th, 18th, and 31st and February 1st, 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th.

Nora Theatre Kicks Off 2014 with INSIGNIFICANCE, Now thru 2/9

The Nora Theatre Company will present Terry Johnson's Insignificance from today, January 9 - February 9, 2014. Insignificance is directed by Daniel Gidron. The press performance for Insignificance is Monday, January 13 at 7:30PM.

Pinot's Palette to Open New Studio in College Station

Pinot's Palette, a national Paint and Sip franchise known for providing guests with an entertaining experience of art and wine, announced today it will open a studio in College Station, Texas on January 24, 2014. The new studio is located at 1800 Texas Ave. S in the Park Plaza Center at the heart of the city's bustling retail corridor and is just minutes away from Texas A&M University.

The Frist Center Pairs GOYA: THE DISASTERS OF WAR and STEVE MUMFORD'S WAR JOURNALS in Exhibitions, 2/28-6/8

Through the pairing of the exhibitions Goya: The Disasters of War, and Steve Mumford's War Journals, 2003-2013, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts offers two powerful artistic portrayals of conflict and life in a combat zone. In The Disasters of War, the eminent Spanish painter and printmaker Goya graphically depicts the ravages of war as a means of expressing his horror with humanity's capacity to inflict harm, whereas the contemporary American artist Steve Mumford takes a more journalistic approach to his paintings of 21(st) Century combat. Both exhibitions will be on view in the Frist Center's Upper-Level Galleries from February 28 through June 8, 2014.

Sam Ashdown to Star as TOM JONES at Northlight Theatre, 1/17-2/23

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, continues its 2013-2014 Season with Tom Jones, adapted by Jon Jory from the novel by Henry Fielding and directed by William Brown. The production will run at Northlight Theatre, 9501 Skokie Blvd in Skokie, from January 17 - February 23, 2014. The Press Opening is Friday, January 24, at 7:30 pm.

San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Reveal 2013 Craig Noel Award Nominees

Dominating the nominations in the musical category is the current Broadway sensation 'A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder,' which made its world premiere in February 2013 at San Diego's The Old Globe (a co-production with Hartford Stage). The musical racked up 11 nominations, including nods for New Musical, its versatile star Jefferson Mays (a UC San Diego alumnus) and its director Darko Tresnjak (former co-artistic director and Shakespeare Festival director at The Old Globe).

World Premiere of COUNTY LINE to Open 1/16 at Performance Network Theatre

From January 16 through February 16 Performance Network Theatre presents the world premiere of the 2013 National New Play Network Showcase Selection and Edgerton Award-Winning inspiring drama 'County Line' by David Wells, who made his Performance Network debut in last season's audience favorite comedy, 'Brill'. He is a University of Michigan Alumnus and one of Michigan's most popular emerging playwrights. 'County Line', directed by David Wolber, is a coming-of-age story set in rural Kansas and explores the challenges young adults may face in foster homes, the lasting effects these memories can have on a person, and how 17-year-old Lois is able to overcome anything that is thrown her way.

Maria Elena and Carlos Slim Domit Invite Romero Britto to Be First Living Artist to Exhibit at Museo Soumaya

MEXICO CITY -- On December 13, 2013, Maria Elena and Carlos Slim Domit hosted a 50th birthday celebration for pop artist icon Romero Britto at Museo Soumaya in Polanco, Mexico City. The celebration included the unveiling of Britto's 'Mexican Glow' collection, a special exhibit of over 20 original paintings and mixed media sculptures, marking the first time in the museum's history that a living artist has exhibited.

Original Housewives of New York former cast member, Jill Zarin and her husband Bobby, welcome their new Upper East Side neighbors, Suttons & Robertsons, a UK based collateral loan company to NYC. Together, Jill & Bobby Zarin and Suttons & Robertsons are teaming up to do some good to help the disaster victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The famed NY duo's collection of 30 rare pieces of artwork by Al Hirschfeld will be sold off for Typhoon Haiyan Relief benefiting The American Red Cross. The Zarins will donate the profits from the sale of their artwork and Suttons & Robertsons will contribute an additional amount that together will be donated to The America Red Cross. Through the entitled 'Hirschfelds for Haiyan' program the Zarin's 30-piece collection will be sold in-store at Suttons & Robertsons starting January 6, 2014, when the NYC Suttons & Robertsons' flagship store opens.
