Lee Roy Reams = Broadway. It's really that simple. Or as Phil Geoffrey Bond, from 54 Below, likes to call this show: BROADWAY 101, and I would Certainly concur. If you have nothing to do tonight, get yourself to the Hottest venue in town, where Sunday Nights have become a "hot ticket" To see some some of the best talent around, doing all sorts of shows.
Well Hello, Little Girl... There were Giants in the Sky last night at 54 Below when host Phil Geoffrey Bond (Sondheim Unplugged) and some of Broadway and cabaret's spookiest talents (along with a ghoulish trio of Sondheimhood's creepiest musicians) collided for a night celebrating the music of these two landmark musicals.
Beyond a common composer, Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods are drastically different shows. But maybe they have more in common than one would believe at first glance. Phil Geoffrey Bond, who oversees the monthly Sondheim Unplugged concert at 54 Below, was inspired to combine songs from each show for a special Halloween concert, and found some surprising similarities between them. The result is Into Sweeney Todd's Woods, a one-night event at the year-old concert venue that will feature performers like Len Cariou (Sweeney Todd's original Sweeney), Sarah Rice (Sweeney Todd's original Johanna) and Pamela Winslow Kashani (Into the Woods' original Rapunzel).
Attend the Tale... 54 Below, Broadway's Nightclub, is thrilled to celebrate Halloween (Tonight, October 31 at 9:30pm) with a special evening of songs from two beloved musicals: Stephen Sondheim's masterpieces, Sweeney Todd and Into the Woods. Expect a night of chills and thrills as some of Broadway and cabaret's spookiest performers descend on the midtown boite for what promises to be an All Hallows Eve to remember.
Last night, October 28, for one night only, Florence Henderson played 54 Below, Broadway's Supper Club in 'Life is NOT a Stage.' BroadwayWorld brings you exclusive photo coverage below!
