The Ensemble Studio Theatre and Going to the River have lined up some of the most gifted women playwrights of color - some new, some established - for a three-week presentation of thirteen short plays in a new play series entitled The River Crosses Rivers, a three-week festival of short one-act plays by women of color, September 9 through 27 at the Ensemble Studio Theatre, 549 West 52nd Street.

Woodie King Jr's New Federal Theatre will present Kernel of Sanity by Kermit Frazier at their home at Henry Street Settlement's Abrons Arts Center/Recital Hall (466 Grand Street). Performances begin April 9th with Opening Night set for Thursday, April 16th. Performances continue through May 3rd only. Petronia Paley directs a cast that features Madeleine James, Joel Nagle*, and Chaz Reuben*.

7TH ANNUAL SOLO FLIGHTS FESTIVAL, Passage Theatre's popular festival of one-person shows runs Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays 8pm Sundays 3pm.

Passage Theatre, Trenton's professional theater company, will pay tribute to Philadelphia's legendary blues singer and Oscar-nominated actress with two performances of Ethel Waters, His Eye Is On The Sparrow on Saturday, March 14 at 8pm and Sunday, March 15 at 3pm. Written by Larry Parr and starring Demetria Joyce Bailey, this production is being presented as part of Passage Theatre's 7th Annual Solo Flights Festival.

Passage Theatre, Trenton's premiere professional theater company, will present its 7th annual Solo Flights Festival March 5 through March 29, featuring one-person plays, music and dance at Trenton's historic Mill Hill Playhouse (Front and Montgomery Streets).

Passage Theatre performs in the historic Mill Hill Playhouse an intimate 115-seat theater in the heart of downtown Trenton adjacent to the beautiful Mill Hill district. On Monday September 22, 2008, the IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, and host Lisa Kron, announced the 2008 recipients at the Fourth Annual IT Awards Ceremony at the Fashion Institute of Technology.

Avery Brooks, the distinguished stage, film and television actor known for his celebrated performances in roles from the classics to science fiction, will portray one of the American theater's most tragic figures, Willy Loman, in a radical new interpretation of Arthur Miller's modern classic, Death of a Salesman from Sept. 18 to 21 at Oberlin College's Hall Auditorium in Oberlin, Ohio.

On July 21, 2008, the IT Awards (New York Innovative Theatre Awards), the organization dedicated to celebrating Off-Off-Broadway, announced the 2008 nominees at a standing-room only event at 'Our Lady of Pompeii' located at 25 Carmine Street. The 2008 Nominees were selected from an adjudication pool of over 3,000 artists. Nominees include 127 individual artists, 47 different productions and 40 theatre companies.
