Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts wishes you Happy Holidays with Christmas Across Centuries featuring The Tallis Scholars.

If you are already dreading the hustle of the upcoming holidays, The Royal Conservatory of Music is the perfect place to relax and gather strength for the holidays as well as to de-stress in the New Year. There is variety of concerts to choose from in December and January, either for yourself or to give as presents: Tallis Scholars offer a concert of Christmas music; birthdays of Oscar Peterson, Frank Sinatra, and Yehudi Menuhin are celebrated; and one can bring their entire family to the first performance of the Family Concerts series, Routes of Andalucia.

This spring, Carnegie Hall celebrates the resurgence in interest in recent decades of the performance of the music of the late Renaissance and early Baroque eras.

This April, Carnegie Hall presents the preeminent a cappella vocal ensemble The Tallis Scholars in two events as part of its month-long Before Bach focus. From April 13 to 17, the group and its director Peter Phillips lead a workshop for 37 pre-professional singers presented by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute on choral masterworks of the Renaissance. Over five days, Mr. Phillips and members of The Tallis Scholars prepare the singers to join them in a program to include a composite mass setting drawn from Antoine Brumel's dramatic Missa Et ecce terrae motus (the 'Earthquake' Mass) with Tomas Luis de Victoria's Missa Salve regina, and concluding with Thomas Tallis's sonorous 40-part motet 'Spem in alium,' recently featured in the book and film adaptation of E.L. James's best-selling novel Fifty Shades of Grey. The workshop culminates with a performance by The Tallis Scholars and the workshop participants on Friday, April 17 at 8:00 p.m. at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola. The program also features works by Orlando Gibbons, Thomas Weelkes, Robert Cowper, and John Sheppard.

In the late 1980s, the world watched in admiration as three little Baltic countries overthrew their oppressive Soviet regimes. Throughout their struggle for freedom the Baltic peoples gathered by the thousands to draw strength from choral music in what became known as 'The Singing Revolution.' We pay tribute to their courage and resolve in a concert of music by Arvo Part and his fellow composers from Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

From January 13 to 17, Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) presents The Song Continues, an annual series led by renowned mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne, exploring song repertoire through master classes and concerts with the goal of encouraging, supporting, and preserving the art of the vocal recital. The series concludes with the Marilyn Horne Song Celebration, a recital featuring special guest artists mezzo-soprano Susan Graham and pianist Brian Zeger on Saturday, January 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Zankel Hall. The evening's concert also features performances by soprano Alison King, mezzo-soprano Cecelia Hall, tenor Russell Thomas, baritone Edward Parks, and pianists Keun-A Lee, Ken Noda, Renate Rohlfing, and Peter Walsh. After four years of construction, Carnegie Hall's Judith and Burton Resnick Education Wing opens to the public this weekend, providing a new home within the Hall's landmark building for a wide range of music education and community programs created by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) and Ensemble ACJW.

This September, Carnegie Hall's Judith and Burton Resnick Education Wing opens to the public, providing a new home within the Hall's landmark building for a wide range of music education and community programs created by Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute (WMI) and Ensemble ACJW. Young musicians, families, students, and teachers can have the opportunity to share musical experiences in 24 new inspirational spaces dedicated to music education on Carnegie Hall's upper floors. Activities housed in the new 61,000-square-foot wing will include interactive and educational musical events for families; programs for New York City students and music teachers; rehearsals and training for Ensemble ACJW fellows; workshops and master classes for young musicians; and professional development activities for educators, WMI teaching artists, and performers.

Both favorites and firsts will be found in this Special Bonus Concert as we sing well-loved works and the world premiere of a brilliant new work by McKnight award-winning composer Jocelyn Hagen that the Chamber Choir commissioned just for this occasion. The Houston Chamber Choir's 18th season comes to a classic close with Brahms's popular Liebeslieder Waltzes and The Beatles's chart-toppers in brilliant settings by famed arranger Yumiko Matsuoka.
