Prospect Theater to Host Auditions 2/21 & 3/7 for 2015 Teen Summer Intensive

This July, Prospect Theater Company (Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director / Melissa Huber, Managing Director) will once again host a three-week Summer Intensive for musical theater students ages 12-17. Beginning Monday, July 6 and running through Saturday, July 25, admitted students will participate in a daily musical theater training program from Mon. - Sat., 10am-6pm (Sundays off).
Fred Ebb Foundation Donates Record $1.65 Million to BC/EFA

The Fred Ebb Foundation (Mitchell Bernard, Trustee) has announced that its 2014 donation to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS will total $1.65 million dollars, marking the largest single contribution in BC/EFA history and bringing the foundation's total contribution to BC/EFA to $10 million since it began ten years ago.

Before performances begin November 9, Prospect Theater Company has announced an extension of performances for The Underclassman, an original musical that explores F. Scott Fitzgerald's coming of age as a writer on the eve of World War I, and his first romance with the elusive debutante Ginevra King. Performances are November 9 through November 30 (originally scheduled through November 23), at The Duke on 42nd Street, located at 229 W. 42nd Street, NYC. Press Opening is November 19 at 7:30pm.
RIFFNOTES Set for NYMF, 7/25-26

Prospect Theater Company will present RIFFNOTES: The Musical as part of the 2014 New York Musical Theatre Festival. Performances will be held on Friday, July 25 at 1pm and Saturday, July 26 at 11am at The PTC Performance Space (555 W. 42nd Street). The announcement was made today by Cara Reichel and Melissa Huber, Producing Artistic Director and Managing Director of Prospect Theater Company.

Prospect Theater Company presents its 2014 annual gala, New York In June, in the Harbor View Room at Battery Gardens, a beautiful and unique waterside location nestled at the southernmost corner of Battery Park. This special one-night-only event will be held on Monday, June 30 with an 8pm concert performance featuring Broadway and Prospect stars. The evening's program will include songs from Prospect's 15 years developing and producing new musical theater by emerging artists, as well as sneak peak performances from upcoming shows, and original songs by Prospect founding member Peter Mills. Proceeds from the evening will benefit Prospect's ongoing mission to develop and produce new American musical theater works.
Rhinebeck Writers Retreat Announces 26 Writers of 9 New Musicals Selected for This Summer

Kathy Evans, Founding Executive Director, announced the nine musicals and twenty-six writers selected for the 2014 Rhinebeck Writers Retreat, its fourth year of providing working retreats for musical theatre writers. For nine consecutive weeks beginning June 29th, each writing team will have an individual weeklong residency in Rhinebeck, New York to write their musical. They are provided with a private home, transportation, food, and a stipend. All costs are fully funded by donors including The ASCAP Foundation, The Dramatists Guild Fund, and The Noel Coward Foundation. Writers participating this year include Broadway's Mindi Dickstein (Little Women), this year's Kleban Prize winner Nathan Tysen (Burnt Part Boys), and Peter Mills, past winner of the Kleban, Fred Ebb Award, and Richard Rodgers prize. The musicals' subjects cover 19th century nautical mysteries, 20th century fairy tales, a 1970's gay bar, and modern-day meth addicts. Every score is original and styles include 16th century Renaissance, big band, folk, rock, and electronic music.
Theatre Artists to Present New Works at Weston Playhouse Event, 5/3

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company will introduce the creative teams behind four new musicals during a Salon Reception at its Playhouse on the Village Green, Saturday, May 3rd from 4 to 6 pm. The culmination of Weston's seventh annual Artists Retreat week, the salon reception is free and open to the public with no reservations necessary.
46 Writers Head to JMF Annual Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals

A total of 46 established and emerging writers, composers and lyricists will converge on the Goodspeed campus in East Haddam, CT this month to participate in the Johnny Mercer Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing nearly 30 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.
