Peter Maloney and Mare Winningham are the recipients of the annual Richard Seff Award presented by the Actors' Equity Foundation to a veteran male and female character actor for the best performance in a supporting role in a Broadway or Off-Broadway production. The announcement was made by Arne Gundersen, president of the Foundation, which administers the award.

The Irish Repertory Theatre continues the eighth season of its Reading Series with John McManus's play The Quare Land, which will be read by Kelly AuCoin (The Call, Julius Caesar) and Peter Maloney (Outside Mullingar, John Guare's Three Kinds of Exile). The reading of The Quare Land will take place today, April 25 at 3pm on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage of the Irish Repertory Theatre (132 W. 22nd Street).

Eligibility and award category designations for the productions under consideration this season were determined by the Drama Desk board of directors with recommendations from the nominating committee. Because of the abundance of great work throughout the season, the Board also authorized the increase in the number of nominees allowed in select categories.
