The Cock Tavern Theatre is presenting a landmark season of six Edward Bond plays from six decades from Tuesday 14 September to Saturday 13 November 2010. During the nine week season it is presenting the UK premiere of Olly's Prison (1993), a revival of The Pope's Wedding (1962), the London première of The Under Room (2005), The Fool (1976), the first revival of Red, Black and Ignorant (1985) and will culminate with a new, yet untitled première that Edward Bond has been commissioned to write for the Cock Tavern Theatre.

The North Shore Opera Hour will present a staged production of Peter Brook's adaptation of Bizet's opera Carmen on August 22 at 7:30pm at the Skokie Theatre. Brook's version captures the fundamental soul of Bizet's opera by focusing on the four main characters; Carmen, Don Jose, Micaela and Escamillo. 'La Tragédie de Carmen' won the 1984 special Tony Award for Outstanding Achievement in Musical Theatre. The basic elements of this tragedy are still intact, offering familiar arias and duets.

The Japan Society (333 East 47th Street) announces its Performing Arts Season spanning Fall 2010 through Spring 2011. The upcoming season features a variety of arts disciplines, from the spellbinding audiovisual concert datamatics [ver. 2.0] by Ryoji Ikeda, to the work of renowned actor Yoshi Oida in his comic one-man play Interrogations: Words of the Zen Masters, to the always-anticipated annual Contemporary Dance Showcase. The centerpiece of the season is the New York debut of Kyoto-based Kashu-Juku Noh Theater, offering audiences the opportunity to experience the 600 year-old tradition of noh and kyogen performed back-to-back. The upcoming season also offers a staged reading of the hit Japanese comedy Trance by Shoji Kokami, in an English translation directed by OBIE-winner Ken Rus Schmoll.
