About Face Youth Theatre presents BRAVE LIKE THEM

About Face Theatre is pleased to present the world premiere of BRAVE LIKE THEM, a punk-infused exploration of the underground "riot grrrl" movement of the 1990s, devised and performed by members of the About Face Youth Theatre Ensemble and co-directed by AFT Education and Outreach Director Ali Hoefnagel and Education Coordinator Kieran Kredell. BRAVE LIKE THEM will play seven performances only, July 26 - August 6, 2017 at the Pride Arts Center (The Buena), 4147 N. Tickets are on sale for the US debut for SOULPEPPER, Toronto's largest and most celebrated theatre company, in a four-week engagement Off-Broadway at The Pershing Square Signature Center, 480 West 42nd Street in New York City. A true repertory program of plays, musicals and concert performances, featuring a company of over 65 artists, the festival, entitled SOULPEPPER ON 42nd STREET, will be presented July 1-July 29, 2017. 2017 Spotlight Award Nominees Announced

As Tony Award nominations were being revealed on Tuesday to honor productions and performances during the 2016-17 season, organizers of The 2017 Spotlight Awards - honoring the best in high school musical theater throughout Middle Tennessee -  were tallying scores and assembling all the names of nominees for the awards presentation to be held Saturday, May 13, at Andrew Johnson Hall at Nashville's Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

National Dance Institute (NDI), the non-profit arts education organization founded in 1976 by legendary New York City Ballet principal dancer Jacques d'Amboise, hosted its 41st Annual Gala at PlayStation Theater in New York City last night, April 24. The Annual Gala is National Dance Institute's largest fundraising event, with all proceeds benefitting NDI's award-winning arts education programs. Musical Theatre West's Reiner Stage Reading Series Presents THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE

Musical Theatre West's (MTW) Reiner Staged Reading Series presents the Rodgers & Hart's classic The Boys from Syracuse Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 7:00pm at its new home, the Beverly O'Neill Theater, located at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center.  Tickets are now on Tickets are now on sale online at www.musical.org, by visiting the MTW West Ticket Office, or by calling (562) 856-1999, ext. 4.  Advance general admission tickets for each performance are $27 (or $32 on the day of the performance).  You can also purchase a subscription for the final two 2016 Reiner Staged Reading performances (She Loves Me will be performed Saturday, December 3, 7pm) for $50.  Seating is general admission, with season subscribers receiving early access to the theatre via a special subscriber door.

Boston Landmarks Orchestra and CSC Present THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE Free Concert, Today

Boston Landmarks Orchestra closes their 2016 Free Today Concerts at the DCR Memorial Hatch Shell on August 31 (7 pm)* with another extraordinary collaboration with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company (CSC).  A concert performance  -  with music and dance - of The Boys from Syracuse, with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Lorenz Hart, and a new adaptation of the George Abbott book by Larry ( and Jennifer Hart with consultation by 3-time Tony Award librettist (Annie, co-librettist of The Producers and Hairspray) Tom Meehan.  The concert is free and open to the public. *If it is raining on August 31, the concert will be postponed to September 1 at the Hatch Shell. If it is also raining September 1st, the concert will be moved to Symphony Hall on the 1st. For more information visit landmarksorchestra.org.

BWW Review: BLOOD WEDDING is Eerily Staged, but Lacks Emotion

The world premiere translation of the classic Spanish drama, BLOOD WEDDING is now playing at Soulpepper. Directed by Erin Brandenburg, the drama follows a young couple's troubled engagement as their love brings to life buried passions that threaten their relationship. Newly translated by Guillermo Verdecchia, the play is reimagined to take place in rural Ontario while still maintaining the classic tones of the original play.
