September is loaded with a variety of plays, readings, presentations and parties, starting with David Rambo's portrait of renowned advice columnist Ann Landers in The Lady With All the Answers. Also answering the big questions is ACT's new lecture series, InterACTions with 'The Physiology of Imagination and the Aesthetics of Stability' with historian Mott Greene. The popular Pinter Fortnightly series and Short Stories Live return, along with Seattle Dance Project's 2010-2011 season opener, Project Orpheus, based on the tragic Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. September also marks the return of ACT Out! Gala & Benefit, a fun filled night featuring the talents if UMO Ensemble, 'Awesome' and The Love Markets.
ArtsWest starts the 2009-10 season with Dead Man's Cell Phone, a wildly imaginative new work from Sarah Ruhl, the playwright behind The Clean House and Eurydice. When Jean answers the cell phone of the corpse at the next table, she unwittingly embarks on a quirky odyssey that takes her from grief to the black market to the afterlife. With unfailing empathy, she sets the dead man's bizarre life to rights and on the way resurrects her own. ArtsWest favorite Carol Roscoe returns to direct this Seattle premiere.
Seattle's 14/48 Theater Festival is still going strong and still wreaking havoc and mayhem-this time inside ACT's stunning and historic Bullitt Cabaret space. 14/48 - The World's Quickest Theater Festival will run January 9-10 and January 16-17 with two shows a night at 8:00 and 10:30 pm.
