Jonah Lehrer Set As Keynote Speaker For 2010 TCG National Conference

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for professional not-for-profit theatre announces its 2010 conference: Ideas into Action. From June 17-19, 2010, the theatre community will come together in Chicago to explore bold new solutions to the major challenges facing the theatre field, cultivate a community that strengthens and nourishes theatres and hear from artists and other thought leaders who will inspire strategic thinking and action.

Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC) presents the final production of their 2009-2010 season: the Midwest Premiere of THE GHOSTS OF TREASURE ISLAND, adapted by Eric Schmiedl from Robert Louis Stevenson's classic 1883 adventure novel Treasure Island. THE GHOSTS OF TREASURE ISLAND features music and lyrics by the band Captain Bogg and Salty and is directed by Amanda Delheimer (The Cay, The Ash Girl).

Beckie Menzie & Tom Michael Perform 'That 60's Show' at Davenport's

? Beckie Menzie & Tom Michael celebrate their 10th anniversary as one of Chicago's most beloved musical duos with That 60's Show. Marking the 50th anniversary of the decade that forever revolutionized popular music, Menzie and Michael's new show will feature songs by many of that era's favorite performers including The Beatles, The Supremes, The Everly Brothers, Elvis Presley, Petula Clark and many more performed in the duo's award winning style.

Brescia, Kantor, Dykstra Set For KILLING WOMEN at Beckett Theater, Opens 5/16

kef theatrical productions, in association with South Ark Stage (Rhoda Herrick, Producing/Artistic Director), presents the New York premiere of Wasserstein Award-winner Marisa Wegrzyn's comedy KILLING WOMEN. Directed by Adam Fitzgerald, previews begin Thursday, May 13 at The Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row with opening set for Sunday, May 16.

Asolo Rep announces additional casting for award-winning Managing Maxine, Janece Shaffer's new play that takes a straight forward look at sex, love and life after 70. The cast features Howard Elfman as Louis, the role he originated last season in the world premiere of Managing Maxine at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta.

As Adventure Stage Chicago (ASC) prepares to end their sixth season with the Midwest premiere of the pirate musical The Ghosts of Treasure Island, ASC announces the formation of a new artistic ensemble.

Sondheim To Play the Harris Theater 3/4, Ebersole Set For 3/25

This March the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park will present its inaugural Broadway Luminaries series as part of the Harris Theater Presents 2009-2010 season of world-renowned national and international artists and ensembles. Featuring Broadway legends of script and song, the series features an 'A Life in the Theater' dialogue with composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim, Thursday, March 4 at 7:30 pm and an evening with Winnetka native and two-time Tony Award-winning actress and songstress Christine Ebersole, Thursday, March 25 at 7:30 pm.

Bougere, Jones et al. Lead Goodman's THE GOOD NEGRO, 5/1 - 6/6

Casting is complete for Goodman Theatre's Chicago-premiere production of Tracey Scott Wilson's The Good Negro, directed by Resident Director Chuck Smith. Wilson and Smith have tapped nine actors to bring this historical drama to the Albert stage, including Karen Aldridge (Goodman's The Cook; Proof); Teagle F. Bougere (Broadway's A Raisin in the Sun; The Tempest); Tory O. Davis (Goodman's Magnolia); John Hoogenakker (Goodman's Rock 'n' Roll; Chicago Shakespeare's Othello); Billy Eugene Jones (Broadway's Passing Strange; Radio Golf); Nambi Kelley (Goodman's Crumbs from the Table of Joy; Victory Gardens' The Lost Boys of Sudan); Demetrios Troy (Northlight's Awake and Sing; Chicago Shakespeare's Richard III); Dan Waller (Goodman's Ghostwritten; Talking Pictures) and Mick Weber (Goodman's Rock 'n' Roll; Chicago Theatre's Shear Madness). The production will run from May 1 - June 6, 2010.

Profiles Theatre Extends Tracey Letts' KILLER JOE Thru April 11

Profiles Theatre announces the extension of its hit production Killer Joe by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts, directed by Steppenwolf ensemble member Rick Snyder. All cast members are continuing in their roles, including Profiles ensemble members Darrell W. Cox and Somer Benson along with Kevin Bigley, Howie Johnson and Claire Wellin. The critically-acclaimed production has been extended for an additional six weeks, through April 11, 2010, at Profiles Theatre, 4147 N. Broadway..
