Peculiar Works presents ANDROBOROS: VILLAIN OF THE STATE

 Peculiar Works Project announces a new site-specific, political farce: Androboros: Villain of the State, a 1-hour adaptation of America's first play in celebration of its 300th Anniversary. In this contemporary staging - in an actual boxing ring - characters inspired by today's political leaders will metaphorically slug it out just days before Americans go to vote. This is a rare opportunity to see an American first in a unique sett ng during an extraordinary election season - right for theater lovers and politics haters!

Racial Drama CHOKEHOLD Heads to the 14th Street Y

Core Creative Productions will premiere an updated version of CHOKEHOLD by Anthony P. Pennino, directed by Tim Cusack. An earlier version of this intense drama about police brutality won Outstanding Overall Production of a New Play at the 2015 Planet Connections Festivity. Previews begin September 16 at The Theatre at the 14th Street Y with opening slated for September 22.

Prospect Theatre Company to Premiere ARCHETYPE: July 27-31

Prospect Theater Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber, presentsARCHETYPE, a collection of six new mini-musicals, the culminating production of Prospect's 2016 Musical Theater Lab (the company's 10th lab production).  ARCHETYPE will play from July 27 - 31 at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 East 14th Street @ 1st Ave., NYC).

Jennifer Sunshine Appointed New Development Director of The Drama League

The Drama League announced today that Jennifer Sunshine has been appointed the company's new Development Director, beginning July 11th, 2016.  Ms. Sunshine is the final new addition to The Drama League's leadership, three of whom were announced last month: Associate Producer Travis LeMont Ballenger, Program Director Sherri Eden Barber, and Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, whose position was expanded to Executive Artistic Director.  The announcement caps a transformative season for The Drama League, in which the organization broke fundraising records, served over 3,000 artists, and celebrated its 100th anniversary.

The Drama League Sets New Artistic Leadership Team

The Drama League today announced the new team to replace longtime artistic director Roger T. Danforth, who departs the storied company this summer. Travis LeMont Ballenger has been named to the newly created position of Associate Producer, and Sherri Eden Barber will assume the role of Program Director. Gabriel Stelian-Shanks will see his position expanded to the role of Executive Artistic Director

RedLeaf Theatre Co. to Present AS SPARKS FLY UPWARDS

RedLeaf Theatre Co. presents As Sparks Fly Upwards, a new work written by Charlie Biscotto and directed by Tim Cusack, from April 14th-24th at the Access Theater's Gallery Space in Lower Manhattan. This Equity Approved Showcase will be participating in the New York Innovative Theater Awards.

Oppressed in Heels & A Letter for You to Present THE TROJAN WOMEN, 10/23-11/1

Oppressed in Heels and A Letter for You presents THE TROJAN WOMEN, a new devised work pulled from interviews of women dealing with war in its many ravaging forms weaved into the narrative of Euripides' classic text. Nathaniel P. Claridad (the original company of Here Lies Love) directs and serves as head writer for the new investigative theatre piece that will play October 23rd through November 1 at the Access Theatre.

Peculiar Works Project to Present 3CHRISTS, Opening 9/7

Peculiar Works Project has announced the world premiere of their next site-specific theatrical event, 3CHRISTS, written by SM Dale & Barry Rowell, and directed by Kelly O'Donnell. Based on The Three Christs of Ypsilanti, a psychological study by Milton Rokeach, 3CHRISTS will be performed in the sanctuary of Judson Memorial Church (55 Washington Square South, at Thompson St.). Performances begin on Friday, September 5 for a limited engagement through Sunday, September 28. Opening Night is Sunday, September 7 at 7 PM. The performance schedule is Thursday - Sunday at 7 PM. Dixon Place is proud the HOT! serves as the model for other queer festivals across the globe and has become a performance destination for emerging talent in the LGBTQ community.
