Flux Theatre Ensemble to Stage ONCE UPON A BRIDE THERE WAS A FOREST, 12/6-20

Flux Theatre Ensemble will present the World Premiere of Kristen Palmer's (The Stray Dog with Rising Phoenix; Departures with Blue Coyote) ONCE UPON A BRIDE THERE WAS A FOREST, December 6-20 at the 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery).

The production will be directed by Heather Cohn (NYIT Award nominated production of Sans Merci) with Assistant Director Sarah Amandes and will feature Arthur Aulisi* (3 Christs with Peculiar Works Project), Becky Byers* (Advance Man and Blast Radius with Gideon Productions), Rachael Hip-Flores (Sans Merci with Flux), Brian Silliman* (2014 NYIT Award Nominee for Outstanding Lead Actor in Dark Water with MTWorks; The Pumpkin Pie Show: Seasick), Chinaza Uche* (Jane the Plain with Flux) and Kristen Vaughan (Frankenstein Upstairs with Gideon Productions).

The creative team will include Sound Design by Janie Bullard (NY Theatre Now 2013 Person of the Year; 2014 NYIT Nominee for Jane the Plain), Set Design by Will Lowry (Jane the Plain with Flux), Costume Design by Stephanie Levin (Hearts Like Fists with Flux), Lighting Design by Kia Rogers (2012 nytheatre.com Person of the Year; 2014 NYIT Award for Jane the Plain), and Props Design by Sara Slagle. After Warren proposes to Josie, she decides she must make one last attempt to find her long-lost father before she walks down the aisle. What she finds instead is a dangerous, seductive world of secrets and magic from which she may not want to escape. Once Upon a Bride There Was a Forest is a lyrical, haunting and surprisingly funny fairy tale about children and parents, forgetting and remembering, and the power of a good story to capture us or set us free.

ONCE UPON A BRIDE THERE WAS A FOREST will be presented by Flux Theatre Ensemble at the 4th Street Theatre (83 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) December 6-20, Wednesday through Saturday and Mondays at 7:30pm with additional performances on Sunday, December 7 at 7:30pm and Sunday, December 14 at 2:30pm. KRISTEN PALMER (Playwright) plays include Once Upon A Bride There Was a Forest, The Stray Dog, The Melting Point, Local Story, The Heart in Your Chest, Departures, and Gloucester Point. They have been produced and presented in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, and elsewhere. She has been a Women's Project Lab Member collaborating on the off-Broadway production We Play For The Gods, a Jerome Fellow at the Playwrights Center, New Georges Associate Artist, Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab Member, and a company member of Printer's Devil Theatre in Seattle. She is a graduate of Bretton Hall College in Yorkshire, England and holds an MFA from Hunter College where she studied with Tina Howe and Mark Bly and won both the Zarkower and Goldberg Prizes. She is currently the Artistic Director of Oddfellows Playhouse Youth Theater.

HEATHER COHN (Director) is a co-founder and Producing Director of Flux Theatre Ensemble. Directing credits for Flux include: Johnna Adams' Sans Merci (NYIT nomination, Best Original Script), August Schulenburg's DEINDE, Erin Browne's Menders, August Schulenburg's The Lesser Seductions of History (nominated for Outstanding Direction, NYIT Awards) and Other Bodies (FringeNYC Excellence Award for Direction) and numerous staged readings. Outside of Flux: Assistant Director to Austin Pendleton on Johnna Adams' Gidion's Knot (59E59); David Stallings' Dark Water (MTWorks - NYIT Award for Outstanding Original Script; nomination for Outstanding Production) and The Stranger to Kindness (Outstanding Overall Production of a One-Act, Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Awards, also nominated for Outstanding Direction Award); Mariah MacCarthy's For the Good of the Child (Gideon Productions); Rosie The Retired Rockette and Blood (EstroGenius Festival); and numerous staged readings for companies such as: Rattlestick, The Lark, Cherry Lane, The Brick, Mission to Ditmars, On the Square Productions, MTWorks, Resonance Ensemble, Jewish Plays Project, The Platform Group and CAPS LOCKS THEATRE. Member - Women's Project Producers' LAB (2008-2010). Heather is a graduate of Vassar College.
