As a special bonus to this impressive season, Nashville Ballet will present Emergence: The Studio Series, at the Nashville Ballet Martin Center for Dance November 13 - 14 at 7:30 pm. A fresh take on Nashville Ballet's previously successful Emergence performances, the innovative new Emergence: The Studio Series allows audience members to select a 'dance list' of performances to watch, much like one puts together a play list of songs on their MP3 players.

Since its preeminence among the city's artistic entities became de facto, Nashville Ballet has consistently launched the real artistic season in Music City each year -- and with the return of Giselle to the company's program after a seven-year hiatus, the 2009-2010 season is off to a rousing start. One of the most beloved works from the classical repertoire, Giselle is a challenging undertaking for any company, but thanks to the vision of artistic director Paul Vasterling, Nashville Ballet's production is a visual feast, featuring stunning costumes, evocative lighting and gorgeous scenery.

Nashville Ballet will hold Youth Cast auditions for the 2009 encore production of Nutcracker on Sunday, September 13, and on Sunday, September 20, at 3630 Redmon Street, Nashville, TN 37209. Nashville Ballet will present the Nashville-based version of this holiday classic. The traditional story is set during the time of the 1897 Tennessee Exposition when the Parthenon was built and incorporates many local elements, such as the interior of Clara?s house designed after the Belle Meade mansion. There are many different and imaginative roles in this production. Only one audition is needed; select one of the two dates. There is a $10.00 audition fee and all participants are required to bring a full-body photograph. All participants must be eight years old by December 31, 2009. Girls should wear proper dance attire and boys should wear shorts and a T-shirt. Nashville Ballet's unique pilot educational project, 'A Step Ahead,' launches this week in its five Davidson County residency schools, which will use the 27-week curriculum to provide third- and fourth-grade students with a basic understanding of dance while incorporating core subjects such as math, science and language skills.
