MUSE/IQUE Uncorked Series: HUMAN/INSTRUMENT Explores Musicality Of The Human Body

MUSE/IQUE, Pasadena's pioneering live music organization, continues its signature Uncorked series with HUMAN/INSTRUMENT, a multi-faceted musical journey into health and wellness, that will showcase the artistic and creative reaches within the human body, and explore sound in its purest form. Featuring L.A.-Based indie pop/electronic a capella group Arora and extreme body percussion ensemble Molodi, each artist will create music using simple, human 'instruments' such as breath, voice, heartbeat and the body itself. This event takes place at Huntington Hospital on Sunday, April 8.

Tickets go on sale today for the Nuffield Southampton Theatres workshop production of Son of Rambow - The Musical, running at The Other Palace from 22 May - 2 June. Director of NST, Samuel Hodges, directs the musical adaptation of the hit cult film featuring an original 80s pop soundtrack by two of the UK's most successful pop writers Miranda Cooper and Nick Coler and with the book by Richard Marsh.

Paul Taylor American Modern Dance Moves 2019 Season From Spring To Fall

As it celebrates 65 years of excellence in modern dance, the Paul Taylor Dance Foundation will be moving the 2019 Season of Paul Taylor American Modern Dance (PTAMD) from March to October/November. This change will allow better integrated creative, rehearsal, performance and touring schedules, and assure that the Lincoln Center Season remains the best modern dance in New York. The 2019 Season will continue the stellar collaboration with the Orchestra of St. Luke's, marrying spectacular live music to brilliant dancing.

Holly Hynes and Zack Brown Among 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awardees

Legendary ballet costume designer HOLLY HYNES and costume and scenic designer ZACK BROWN are among the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients which were just announced by TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts. Ms. Hynes was selected to receive the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Brown will receive the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, April 20, at 6:30pm, at the Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).

Juilliard Spring Dances Features Masterworks By Cunningham, Pite, And Tharp

Juilliard Dance, led by acting artistic director Taryn Kaschock Russell, continues its season with Spring Dances, a repertory program featuring Merce Cunningham's Sounddance, set to Untitled 1975/1994 by David Tudor and staged by Jean Freebury; Crystal Pite's Grace Engine, set to music by Owen Belton and staged by Alexandra Damiani; and Twyla Tharp's Deuce Coupe, set to music by the Beach Boys and staged by Richard Colton.

Alison Cook Beatty Dance Presents MOVING STORIES

Alison Cook Beatty Dance will perform HUMANITAS, THE EMOTIONS PROJECT, THE UNINVITED GUEST, and WHALE (world premiere). The ninety-minute performance will include two intermissions. Guest artists Kitty Lunn and Winston Dynamite Brown will be performing short works with Ms. Cook-Beatty as well.

The Sarasota Ballet Presents Ballet Hispanico, America's Premiere Latino Dance Organization

Ballet Hispanico to perform three works by female Latino choreographers at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, 23 - 25 February 2018. Sarasota, FL (January 30, 2018) - The Sarasota Ballet presents Ballet Hispanico, 23 - 25 February 2018 at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts, featuring three works: Michelle Manzanales' Con Brazos Abiertos, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa's Linea Recta and Tania Perez-Salas' Catorce Dieciseis. This international touring company will arrive in Sarasota following performances in Germany and Norway and will head to Scotland following their Sarasota run.

Parsons Dance Makes Folsom Debut at Harris Center, 3/6

Known for energized, athletic, and visually stunning ensemble work, Parsons Dance creates and performs contemporary American dance of extraordinary artistry. With work that has proven to be accessible and enriching to diverse audiences around the world, the company has collaborated with iconic artists across all disciplines, including Billy Taylor, Milton Nascimento, Allen Toussaint, William Ivey Long, Donna Karan, Annie Leibovitz, Rita Blitt and Alex Katz. Parsons Dance was founded by artistic director David Parsons and Tony Award-winning lighting designer Howell Binkley. In the July 27, 2007 issue of The New York Times, Jennifer Dunning called David Parsons "one of the great movers of modern dance." 

Orchestra Of St. Luke's Announces 2018-19 Carnegie Hall Season

Orchestra of St. Luke's (OSL) 2018-2019 Subscription Series presented by Carnegie Hall, will open on October 25, 2018, with Bernard Labadie on the podium for his official debut as Principal Conductor of the Orchestra. Works of Haydn are the thematic thread to this 32nd Carnegie Hall subscription season and the three programs will also feature works by younger contemporaries and 20th-century composers he influenced. The program, for the first of three concerts, pairs two great masterworks of the choral repertoire, Haydn's Mass in D Minor, Hob. XXII: 11, 'Nelson Mass,' and Mozart's Requiem, K. 626.La Chapelle de Quebec, the choir founded and directed by Maestro Labadie, makes its first appearance with OSL, joined by guest soloists German tenor Lothar Odinius, French-Canadian bass-baritone Philippe Sly, and acclaimed American mezzo-soprano Susan Graham.

Plano Children's Theatre presents THE LION KING JR.

North Texas Performing Arts proudly presents Disney's The Lion King, Jr., February 1-10th at Plano's Courtyard Theatre and at North Texas Performing Arts in their new home at The Shops of Willow Bend. The performance will be in the Rodenbaugh Main Stage Theatre. Featuring a cast of actors, ages 7-15, the production is directed by Plano Children's Theatre alum, Christian Black. Choreography is by Lonnie Hightower, who performed in The Lion King on Broadway who originated the role of one of the hyenas in Disney's The Lion King on Broadway.

Orchestra of St. Luke's Performs World Premiere By Bryce Dessner at Carnegie Hall

The closing concert of Orchestra of St. Luke's 2017-2018 Carnegie Hall Series will take place on Thursday, February 15 at 8 PM at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage. Robert Spano leads the Ensemble in a program highlighted by two works considered signal achievements of their respective forms: Mozart's Symphony No. 40 in G minor and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, 'Emperor,' with guest artist Jeremy Denk. The world premiere of Bryce Dessner's Voy a dormir features mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor making her Orchestra of St. Luke's debut, in a work Dessner created for her.
