BWW Reviews: Paul Taylor Celebrates Diamond Anniversary Season at Lincoln Center

Attending an homage to Paul Taylor's artistry was an unforgettable experience. The pageantry behind the show, combined with Paul Taylor's expertise, created remarkable moments. This was on display in the recent presentations of Byzantium, Marathon Cadenzas, and Funny Papers. Despite the self-effacing vibe Paul Taylor is known for portraying, his work drips with thoughtfulness and intellect.

Review Roundup: I CAN'T SING: THE X FACTOR MUSICAL

I Can't Sing! The X Factor Musical opened tonight, March 26 at the London Palladium. Irreverent, mischievous, packed full of side-splittingly funny songs and eye-popping sets, I CAN'T SING! is the irrepressible new musical comedy that goes behind the microphones and under the judges' desks to reveal big bust-ups, huge voices and the cutest young love story the West End has ever seen. Let's see what the critics had to say...

BWW Reviews: PAUL TAYLOR DANCE COMPANY

As I was going to the Paul Taylor performance I saw a woman wearing a mink coat and my brain retreated to my early teenage years when all those Blackglama ads were in vogue. You remember them: 'What becomes a legend most?' Among those featured in the advertisements were Rudolf Nureyev, Margot Fonteyn, and Martha Graham, among the many icons.

BWW Reviews: PAUL TAYLOR'S 1982 'Mercuric Tidings' Trumps His 2014 Premiere

On the evening of March 20th 2014, as part of the Diamond Anniversary celebration of the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Koch Theater, the troupe offered a triple bill that included a recent world premiere and an enduring favorite from 1982. The first two offerings, choreographed in 2012 and 2013 respectively, earned only tepid applause from everyone in the audience including me. The closing piece, on the other hand, rightfully received a nearly thunderous ovation and I was clapping as enthusiastically as the rest of the dancegoers. I only hope that this disparity between the work that was choreographed over three decades ago and those more newly created is not an indication that Taylor, at 83, is no longer turning out the top quality dances that secured him a place in the pantheon of great American modern dance pioneers.
