Starry Alumni, Sharp Satire and Hope For The Future In National Youth Theatre 60th Celebrations

Sixty years young, last night the National Youth Theatre celebrated its storied past, buoyant present and - with a heartfelt plea for more financial support - essential future in a star-studded diamond gala at Shaftesbury Theatre. Those NYT participants who joined the company in this glittering anniversary year really lucked out, noted my companion, but it was hard to find a dull moment in decades of pioneering, diverse and life-changing work, as illustrated by this affectionate revue.

Matt Smith, Hugh Bonneville, Timothy Dalton and Gina McKee Join National Youth Theatre 60th Anniversary Gala

Paul Roseby, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) has today announced the initial line-up of alumni who will join current members on stage in London's West End on 18th September for the company's Diamond Anniversary Gala.  Taking to the stage at the Shaftesbury Theatre in celebration of the company's 60th birthday will be former members including: Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Daisy Lewis (Downton Abbey), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Twenty Twelve, W1A), Timothy Dalton (James Bond), Jessica Hynes (Twenty Twelve, W1A) and Gina McKee (Our Friends in the North). More names are still to be announced.

National Youth Theatre Announces 60th Season - West End Premieres, Regional Tour and More

Paul Roseby, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) has today announced a new season of work for the company in celebration of their 60th anniversary year. Founded in 1956 the NYT is the pioneering force for youth theatre around the world and is recognised as the leading provider of free alternatives to formal theatre training, with alumni including Dame Helen Mirren, Daniel Craig, Chiwetel Ejiofor CBE and Sir Daniel Day Lewis. Since being founded the world's leading youth arts charity has nurtured the talent of over 100,000 young people.

On Monday 23 November, The National Youth Theatre hosted a fundraising gala 'Stars and Stripes Thanksgiving Feast' at The Bloomsbury Hotel, attended by current NYT performers, past alumni and VIP guests. National Youth Theatre to Present WUTHERING HEIGHTS, CONSENSUAL and More!

The National Youth Theatre of Great Britain (NYT) begin their autumn season in the West End this week. Following the huge success of the REP seasons in 2013 and 2014, the company returns to the Ambassadors Theatre with three new productions from September to December exploring themes of sex education, relationships, class and heritage. NYT will also present 'An Audience with David Suchet' in October, a unique opportunity to hear the magnificent Hercule Poirot and NYT alumnus in conversation with NYT Artistic Director Paul Roseby. The 10-week rep season will start on 18 September 2015, with press performances on 6 and 7 October 2015. An Audience with David Suchet will take place on 15 October 2015.
