Now in its nineteenth year, MATA Festival is back at The Kitchen on April 25 - 29 with an overflowing bounty of the newest music. Representing 31 early-career composers from seventeen countries, it offers a singular opportunity for New Yorkers to grasp the complete spectrum of new music emerging today - from gritty European modernism to experiments in theater, sound, and acoustics. This year's concerts include seven world premieres (including three MATA commissions), fifteen US premieres, and six NY premieres.

Just yesterday, fans joined creator Dave Malloy and members of the cast to sing group chorus sections and to play the show's famous egg shakers for the original Broadway cast recording. The new musical NATASHA, PIERRE & THE GREAT COMET OF 1812 just had a starry Broadway opening Monday night, at the Imperial Theatre. Featuring the Broadway debuts of 24 cast and creative team members, including Josh Groban as 'Pierre' and Denee Benton as 'Natasha,' the new musical is created by Dave Malloy (Ghost Quartet, Preludes) and directed by Rachel Chavkin (Hadestown, Artistic Director of The TEAM), also making their Broadway debuts.
