Opera Parallele Announces Cast Changes in THE SHINING

Opera Parallèle announced baritone singer Robert Wesley Mason will now sing the role of Jack Torrance and bass-baritone Kevin Deas will sing the role of Dick Hallorann in the company's upcoming West Coast premiere of The Shining, the critically acclaimed opera by Grammy Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning team of composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell. Opera Parallèle welcomes both acclaimed singers in their company debut.

IXL Funds Scholarships For NYC Public School Students In Creative Arts

Four students from New York City public schools have been awarded scholarships to attend Buck's Rock Performing and Creative Arts Camp for one month this summer. The scholarship recipients are Alexia Stewart, Fordham High School for the Arts; Isabel Paulino, The High School of Art and Design; Adonai Fletcher-Jones, Talent Unlimited High School; and KyMoy Phillip, Brooklyn High School of the Arts.

The Celebrity Series of Boston presents the 5th annual Stave Sessions, the unique music series showcasing the innovative, the experimental, and the collaborative approaches of emerging artists. Bostonians will have another reason to welcome autumn along the Charles River when the Celebrity Series of Boston presents Jazz Along the Charles: A Walkable Concert. After receiving close to 100 applications, a selection committee comprised of educators, administrators and performers from Boston's thriving jazz scene has chosen 25 ensembles to perform at a series of connected, walkable locations along the Charles River Esplanade, interpreting the same curated list of Boston-related tunes in one collective free concert.

LET'S DANCE BOSTON Returns to the Greenway Next Month

PS DANCE! Launches on THIRTEEN Tonight

PS DANCE!, an inspiring documentary showcasing the profound effects of dance education in NYC public schools, will air on tri-state public television stations THIRTEEN tonight, May 15 at 10:30 p.m., WLIW21 on May 17 at 3:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., and NJTV on May 26 at 10:00 p.m. After the initial broadcast, the full film will also be available for online streaming at THIRTEEN.org/specials. Hosted by veteran TV journalist Paula Zahn and filmed in the classrooms of five NYC public school full-time certified dance educators, this film reveals the impact that consistent and sequential dance instruction has on students' aesthetic, artistic and expressive development. While every child is born with the innate inclination to create, imagine and dance, PS DANCE! highlights how the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Dance, PreK-12, supports dance teachers in developing these qualities.
