The producers of Ghost The Musical announced today that the show will play its final performance on Broadway on Saturday, August 18th at 8pm after 39 previews and 136 regular performances. Ghost The Musical opened on April 23, 2012 at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street), having begun previews on March 15th.
David Leonard will take over the role of Miss Trunchbull from today, 3 July 2012 and Annette McLaughlin will join the company as Mrs Wormwood from Tuesday 21 August 2012. They will play alongside Haley Flaherty and Steve Furst who have recently joined the Company as Miss Honey and Mr Wormwood. Bertie Carvel's last performance as Miss Trunchbull took place on Sunday 1 July and Josie Walker will perform as Mrs Wormwood for the last time on Sunday 19 August.
Beginning October 24, Tommy Steele will return to the West End once again headlining SCROOGE, with direction from Bob Tomson and design from Paul Farnsworth. Whatsonstage.com reports today that the show is booking through January 5.

As BroadwayWorld previously reported, The Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical, which won big at this year's Olivier Awards, will open in New York early 2013. Matilda The Musical premiered at The Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, home of the RSC, playing to sold-out audiences for twelve weeks from November 2010 to January 2011.

Siobhan Dillon and Mark Evans, who lead the West End cast in the award-winning Ghost the Musical, have recently recorded their own cover version of Somebody That I Used To Know in celebration of Gotye and Kimbra's original. The original single has reached number one in the top forty charts and is currently number one in the Billboard album charts. Since its release on You Tube last Friday, Dillon and Evans' version has currently been seen by over 14,500 people. The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced that the Dodgers will be its producing partner for Roald Dahl's Matilda The Musical on Broadway. Currently playing to sold-out houses in London's West End, the new musical is planning a New York opening in the Spring of 2013.

As Ghost The Musical enters its second year, over 250,000 new tickets go on sale today (28 March 2012) taking bookings at the Piccadilly Theatre to 20 April 2013. Having been seen by over 400,000 people, Ghost The Musical is now also playing on Broadway, with further productions planned for Holland in September 2012, Australia and Germany in 2013 and Korea in 2014.
