The Paul Dresher Ensemble will present The Electro-acoustic Band + Living Earth Show on January 26 & 27, 2018, 8 pm, on the Z Space's Main Stage. The Living Earth Show will perform works for invented instruments created by composer & instrument inventor Dennis Aman. Composer Aman began this work during his 2016 DEAR Residency at the Dresher Ensemble's studio, collaborating closely with the Living Earth Show, for whom he has created the instruments as well as the featured work, 24 Preludes and Fugues.

Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice is poised between two Empires - The Sceptered Isle and La Serenissima. In honor of the 400th anniversary of the death of Shakespeare and the 500th anniversary of the birth of the Venetian ghetto, The Floor of Heaven interweaves moments from Shakespeare's complex and revolutionary text with the play's original music and songs from the English-Venetian soundscape that Shakespeare's characters would have played and heard.

The Paul Dresher Ensemble Presents the music theater production Schick Machine September 23-25 on San Francisco's Z Space Main Stage prior to tour. Directed by Rinde Eckert virtuoso percussionist Steven Schick inhabits a fantastical stage filled with huge invented instruments and sound sculptures - including the Hurdy Grande, the Tumbler, the Field of Flowers and the Peacock (a deconstructed pipe organ). After the performance, the audience is invited onstage to engage and explore a kind of audio "maker" sound and visual domain.
