The starry cast of THE MIRACLE WORKER have recently got to work on the production, which begins performances on Friday, February 12 at the Circle in the Square Theatre on Broadway. The show, starring Abigail Breslin, Allison Pill, Matthew Modine, Jennifer Morrison and Elizabeth Franz officially opens on March 3, 2010.

As the blockbuster musical Wicked celebrates the one-year anniversary of its San Francisco production, three of its female stars will appear for a special evening on January 25 of conversation and song at the Museum of Performance & Design (MPD). Teal Wicks (Elphaba) and Kendra Kassebaum (Glinda) will perform selections from the score, and together with Patty Duke (Madame Morrible) will discuss their experience in this new Broadway classic, back in the city where it began. The evening will be moderated by MPD Curator of Exhibitions and Programs Brad Rosenstein, and will include an opportunity for audience questions.

According to a report in the New York Times this morning, members of advocacy groups such the Alliance for Inclusion in the Arts - an advocacy group for blind and deaf actors - are none to pleased with the casting of Abigail Breslin as Hellen Keller in the upcoming Broadway revival of The Miracle Worker.

On September 23rd, The Ivoryton Playhouse opened the sixth production of the 2009 season - William Gibson's Tony-Award winning drama The Miracle Worker. It was first produced as a 1957 Playhouse 90 broadcast starring Teresa Wright as Annie Sullivan and Patricia McCormack as Helen. Gibson adapted his teleplay for a 1959 Broadway production with Anne Bancroft as Sullivan and Patty Duke as Keller. The two reprised their roles for the award winning1962 feature film, directed by Arthur Penn.

Courthouse News is reporting that the verdict is still out on actress Patty Duke's claims that Golda's Balcony producers are in breach of contract for firing - or rather, not officially hiring - the star from the international tour of Broadway's wildly successful Golda's Balcony, the one-woman show about Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir that starred Tovah Feldshuh on Broadway. Golda's Balcony stands as the longest-running one woman show to play Broadway.
