The Public Theater announced today that The Public Theater's Annual Gala, HAIR TO HAMILTON, 50 Years of Revolutionary Musicals, will take place on Monday, June 5 at the Delacorte Theater.

Joe's Pub at The Public has announced that Tori Scott's new show Plan B! - a shameless musical journey of slurred autobiographical stories and songs written by other people- will be taped live at the venue for Scott's upcoming Plan B! album. The Public Theater announced complete casting today for HAMLET, featuring Golden Globe Award winner Oscar Isaac as the tormented Danish Prince. Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Gold, HAMLET will begin previews on Tuesday, June 20 and run through Sunday, September 3 in the Anspacher Theater, with an official press opening on Thursday, July 13.

Highlights include Labelle founding member Sarah Dash on May 12; the soulfully-voiced and hard-rocking singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Celisse Henderson on May 31; Australian singer Cloves (Kaity Dunstan) on June 1; the Peterson Brothers, a modern blend of blues rock from 20-year-old Glenn and 17-year-old Alex Peterson, on June 2; a fundraiser for The Restorative Center with Stephanie McKay on June 15; soul powerhouse gina Breedlove on June 20; Alfa Anderson's album release party for her solo debut, From My Heart, on July 7; and, the relentlessly energetic JJ Thames & The Violet ReVOLT on August 8.

The Public Theater has announced the line-up for the popular Spotlight Series of free staged readings of new plays by The Public's Emerging Writers Group, beginning on Wednesday, May 31 and running through Monday, June 26.

The Public Theater will kick off the 2017-18 season in September with a free Public Works musical adaptation of AS YOU LIKE IT, adapted by Shaina Taub and Laurie Woolery, with music and lyrics by Shaina Taub. Directed by Laurie Woolery, AS YOU LIKE IT will once again feature over 200 actors and community members alongside equity actors. Now in its fifth season, this unforgettable Public Works musical adaptation about chance encounters and self-discovery, will run for five nights for free, September 1-5, at the Delacorte Theater.

The Public Theater announced today a one-week extension for the world premiere of GENTLY DOWN THE STREAM, written by Martin Sherman and directed by Sean Mathias. The show officially opened on Wednesday, April 5, and was previously extended through Sunday, May 14. It will now run an additional week through Sunday, May 21.
