Paper Mill Playhouse hosted its Center Stage Celebration on Friday, May 13th at the Hilton Short Hills. The benefit honored eight time Academy Award®-winning composer Alan Menken with the theater's prestigious Frank Carrington Excellence in the Arts Award. There to add to the entertainment of the evening and help honor the music man was Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winner Laura Benanti. Directed by Mark Waldrop, with choreography by Vince Pesce, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will run at Paper Mill Playhouse's Millburn theater from March 16 through April 10, 2011. Check out opening night images for the show below! A Funny Thing Happened in the Way to the Forum brings a great cast to the Paper Mill Playhouse stage. Paul Vogt (Pseudolus) made his Broadway debut as Edna Turnblad in Hairspray and he replaced Harvey Fierstein in the Las Vegas production. Films include Garry Marshall's Valentines Day and Princess Diaries 2. Audiences know Paul from 'MADtv.' This is Paul's first Paper Mill Playhouse experience.

Jones-Executive Director) The Rising Star Awards are modeled after the Tony® Awards and Paper Mill's program serves the entire state of New Jersey with 100 entered productions from high schools. The 2009 Rising Star Award ceremony was held at Paper Mill Playhouse on Tuesday, June 16th in which the nominees performed and the award recipients were presented with a crystal award from Rising Star Award partner Tiffany's & Co. Investors Savings Bank Foundation is the title sponsor of the 2009 Rising Star Awards.

Oscar Wilde's masterpiece of modern comedy is directed by David Schweizer and celebrated Opening Night on Sunday, January 18th. BroadwayWorld's cameras were there to capture the starry celebration! Paper Mill's production of The Importance of Being Earnest runs through February 15, 2009. The Importance of Being Earnest is about maintaining fictitious identities to avoid unwelcome social obligations. Jack Worthing's brother, Earnest, provides Jack with the excuse to escape from his dull home in the country to frolic in town. The home of Algernon Moncreiff's friend Bunbury provides a convenient locale for taking adventures in the country. The problem? Earnest and Bunbury are imaginary, created by Jack and Algernon to add a dash of excitement to their lives. Their deceptions eventually cross paths, resulting in a series of hilarious crises that threaten to spoil their romantic pursuits.

Arguably the most brilliant musical ever created, Oklahoma! changed the face of American musical theatre forever. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story.

On June 8th, 2008 Paper Mill Playhouse opened its mainstage production of Little Shop of Horrors, a musical written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. The musical is based on Roger Corman's 1960 sci-fi comedy and includes several show-stopping numbers including 'Skid Row (Downtown),' 'Somewhere That's Green,' and 'Suddenly Seymour,' as well as the title song. Little Shop of Horrors will run at the Millburn theatre from June 4 through July 6, 2008.

Paper Mill Playhouse (Millburn, NJ) opened Happy Days: A New Musical, on Sunday September 30 at 7:30PM. Based on the hit Paramount Pictures television series, Happy Days is created by Garry Marshall who also wrote the book, with music and lyrics by Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe-winning Hall of Fame songwriter Paul Williams. Directed by Paper Mill favorite Gordon Greenberg, this musical comedy will run at the Millburn Theatre through October 28.
