The Bostonian Society presents the world premiere of Cato and Dolly, an all-new play by Playwright Patrick Gabridge at Boston's historic Old State House, running through September 29, 2018. The new play, commissioned specifically for the Old State House's Through the Keyhole exhibition, reveals life behind the door of the Hancock House, Governor John Hancock's 18th century Beacon Hill home.

New Historic Play CATO AND DOLLY Premieres At Boston's Old State House

The Bostonian Society announces the world premiere of Cato and Dolly, an all-new live play by Playwright Patrick Gabridge at Boston's historic Old State House, running Friday, July 6 - September 29, 2018. The new play, commissioned specifically for the Old State House's Through the Keyhole exhibition, reveals life behind the door of the Hancock House, Governor John Hancock's 18th century Beacon Hill home. In addition to viewing the historic door itself, on public view for the first time in decades, visitors to Through the Keyhole will experience the new 20-minute play which offers a glimpse of everyday life behind the Hancock door through the eyes of those who lived there: Cato Hancock, an enslaved person in the Hancock household and Dolly Hancock, John Hancock's wife and First Lady of Massachusetts. Gabridge's powerful site-specific play at the Old State House, Blood On The Snow, had a sold-out run in 2016-2017 and was called "electric and alive" by WGBH's Jared Bowen.

Now celebrating its 20th year, id Theater returns to McCall, Idaho with the Seven Devils Playwrights Conference, with events from June 8 to 17 at McCall's Alpine Playhouse. Short But Brief: CCRI Players Present Student-Directed 10-Minute Plays

The Community College of Rhode Island conclude their 2016-2017 season with Some Ten Words Long, a program of six student-directed ten-minute plays. Performances will be presented at the Liston Campus, 1 Hilton St. in Providence, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 20, 21, and 22 at 7:30 P.M., and on Saturday and Sunday, April 22 and 23, at 2 P.M.

The Bostonian Society Welcomes Return of Site-Specific BLOOD ON THE SNOW

On March 6, 1770, four civilians lie dead, and eight more have been wounded by the King's soldiers. As tensions rise in the streets of Boston, Acting Governor Thomas Hutchinson faces an impossible choice. Blood on the Snow, by Patrick Gabridge, dramatizes the events immediately following the infamous Boston Massacre and is staged in the Council Chamber of the Old State House, the very room where the discussion took place nearly 250 years ago.

Huntington Theatre Company's Annual Workshop Readings Set for 7/23-24

The Huntington Theatre Company's annual Summer Workshop will start rehearsals on July 12 and conclude in public readings of three new plays on July 23 and 24, 2016. The workshop allows selected members of the Huntington Playwriting Fellows program two weeks to focus on developing new plays. The workshop and public readings will take place in the South End at the Huntington's Stanford Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts, 527 Tremont Street, Boston.

BWW Review: World Premiere of Gabridge's BLOOD ON THE SNOW

BLOOD ON THE SNOW imagines the details of the morning after the Boston Massacre. On March 6, 1770, the acting Royal Governor met with his advisors in the Council Chamber in the Old State House to determine how to restore calm and prevent further bloodshed. The event was a watershed moment for the citizens of Boston on the road to the American Revolution. Patrick Gabridge, the Bostonian Society, and the National Park Service stage the production in the very room where history was made, and the audience becomes the virtual 'fly on the wall.'

Boston Theater Marathon XVIII to be Held in May

Boston Playwrights' Theatre (BPT) presents the 18th annual Boston Theater Marathon and the eighth year of The Warm-Up Laps. This year's Boston Theater Marathon features 50 ten-minute plays, by 52 New England playwrights, produced by 50 New England theatres in ten hours.
