Low Spark Films and Jean Doumanian Productions have completed the financing for the upcoming film adaptation of Galveston, written by 'True Detective' creator Nic Pizzolatto. Embankment Films is handling foreign sales, and is currently representing the project in Cannes. Shooting is set to commence in October, 2014.
Jean Doumanian Productions, producers of August Osage County, will produce the upcoming film adaptation of Nic Pizzolatto's acclaimed novel Galveston, featuring a screenplay adapted by Pizzolatto himself. Janus Metz is set to direct. Matthias Schoenaerts, who starred in Bullhead and in Rust and Bone (for which he won the 2012 Cesar Award for Most Promising Actor), will lead the cast as 'Roy.' (The character of 'Rocky,' the female lead, has yet to be cast.) Shooting is planned to commence in Spring, 2014.
Preston Copley, formerly of Disney Theatrical Group, where he served directly under President Thomas Schumacher on the gamut of the commercial producer's Global productions, has joined Jean Doumanian Productions as Director of Creative Development for Theater, working alongside Jean Doumanian, and Vice President, Patrick Daly. In his new position, Copley will be identifying existing work and developing new theatrical content for commercial productions on and off-Broadway, and for audiences abroad.
