Pat Halloran, longtime President and CEO of the Memphis Development Foundation which operates The Orpheum Theatre, has announced plans to retire on December 31, 2015. Halloran joined the Memphis Development Foundation (MDF) in 1980 and will have completed 35 years of service at the time of his retirement.

The Orpheum Theatre and The Memphis Symphony Orchestra will partner to offer Disney's most beloved songs in Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies. Presented by Kroger, this concert of symphonic arrangements combines the famed Walt Disney Studio songbook with synchronized video and live singing. Performances will take place at The Orpheum Theatre and include an evening presentation on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 PM, and a 2:00 PM matinee on Sunday, March 29, 2015.

The Orpheum Theatre has announced its acceptance, in partnership with Shelby County Schools (SCS), into the John F. Kennedy Center's Partners in Education program. The National Theatre of Great Britain's epic WAR HORSE opened at The Memphis Orpheum on March 25th. The story is based on Michael Morpurgo's 1982 novel of the same name. The play premiered in London in 2007, opened on Broadway in 2011, and embarked on a National Tour in 2012. It is also the inspiration for Steven Spielberg's feature film.

Today the Memphis Development Foundation, the parent company which operates the Orpheum Theatre, initiated the construction phase of a new downtown development project: the Orpheum Centre for Performing Arts & Education. More than 200 people attended the groundbreaking ceremony taking place at 225 S. Main Street, the site of the new Orpheum Centre, and a reception inside the Orpheum Theatre's Grand Lobby.

It's just been announced that FIRST DATE, which opened on August 8, 2013 at Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 W. 48th Street), will play its final performance on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at 3pm, having played 34 previews and 174 regular performances. FIRST DATE began performances on Broadway on July 9, 2013, and has a book by Austin Winsberg, music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner,direction by Bill Berry, musical staging by Josh Rhodes, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, and musical supervision, vocal and incidental arrangements by Dominick Amendum.
