The Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN, begins a national search to replace its long-time President & CEO, Pat Halloran. The Memphis Development Foundation (MDF), which operates the 2400-seat theatre, has retained the executive search firm, DHR International, to conduct the search.

Pat Halloran, longtime President and CEO of the Memphis Development Foundation which operates The Orpheum Theatre, has announced plans to retire on December 31, 2015. Halloran joined the Memphis Development Foundation (MDF) in 1980 and will have completed 35 years of service at the time of his retirement.

The Orpheum Theatre partners with the world-renowned sound engineering company Meyer Sound to install a new sound system in the Orpheum Theatre. This collaboration provides audiences with the most advanced listening experience in Orpheum history, and it completes Phase I of several planned improvements to the theatre.

Five of the Orpheum Theatre's Broadway titles will be available for purchase in a condensed Broadway series ticket package starting Monday, November 3rd. The Orpheum Theatre has announced its acceptance, in partnership with Shelby County Schools (SCS), into the John F. Kennedy Center's Partners in Education program. Formally accepted in April, The Orpheum and SCS initiated the program in Memphis with a week of teacher professional development July 7th through 11th.

The Orpheum Theatre announces its inaugural Backstage Bash on Thursday, August 7th, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Hosted by the Orpheum Crew, the theatre's young professionals group, the Backstage Bash will give guests the "star's view" of the Orpheum by taking place on the theatre's iconic stage.

On Monday, May 12th, The Orpheum Theatre announced the winners of the 2014 High School Musical Theatre Awards in a dazzling, Tony style awards show. Modeled after the Tony Awards and now in its fourth year, The Orpheum's High School Musical Theatre Awards recognizes achievements in all areas of high school musical theatre. This event is part of the National High School Musical Theatre Awards program which includes 30 programs from across the country.

The Memphis Development Foundation (MDF), the nonprofit organization that operates The Orpheum Theatre, announces that three new members have joined its prestigious Board of Directors: Rick Fogelman, Darold Londo, and Bill Stegbauer.

The National Theatre of Great Britain's epic WAR HORSE opened at The Memphis Orpheum on March 25th. The story is based on Michael Morpurgo's 1982 novel of the same name. The play premiered in London in 2007, opened on Broadway in 2011, and embarked on a National Tour in 2012. It is also the inspiration for Steven Spielberg's feature film.

Today the Memphis Development Foundation, the parent company which operates the Orpheum Theatre, initiated the construction phase of a new downtown development project: the Orpheum Centre for Performing Arts & Education. It's just been announced that FIRST DATE, which opened on August 8, 2013 at Broadway's Longacre Theatre (220 W. 48th Street), will play its final performance on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at 3pm, having played 34 previews and 174 regular performances. FIRST DATE began performances on Broadway on July 9, 2013, and has a book by Austin Winsberg, music and lyrics by Alan Zachary and Michael Weiner,direction by Bill Berry, musical staging by Josh Rhodes, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, and musical supervision, vocal and incidental arrangements by Dominick Amendum.
