'Forbidden Broadway: Behind the Mylar Curtain' written by Gerard Alessandrini with Michael Portantiere, has just been released.

Gerard Alessandrini (creator, writer and director) and Philip George (director) will bring their multi-award winning satirical musical, FORBIDDEN BROADWAY, for a limited run only at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 25 June to 13 September, with press night on 02 July. The show, which last month wrapped up its record-breaking 27-year run in New York makes its first visit to London in 10 years.

FORBIDDEN BROADWAY is a runaway hit at London's Menier Chocolate Factory, where the show opened for a twelve-week run on July 2 to raves and crowds. The legendary theatrical lampoon, which ended (at least for the time being) its 27-year New York run on March 1, has been retooled for London and restaged for the Menier Chocolate Factory by creator Gerard Alessandrini and long-time collaborator Phillip George.

New York Drama Critics' Circle were presented at a cocktail reception held on Monday, May 11, at the Algonquin Hotel, where the NYDCC was founded in 1935 by such legendary critics as Brooks Atkinson, Walter Winchell, and Robert Benchley.

Ruined, by Lynn Nottage, today won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2008-2009 season. The Best Musical award was given to Billy Elliot, music by Elton John, and book and lyrics by Lee Hall. The award for Best Foreign Play was given to Black Watch by Gregory Burke. The selections were made at the 74th annual voting meeting of the organization today at the offices of Time Out New York in Manhattan.
