Forum Theatre's 10th Anniversary Season has begun! The 2013-2014 season will features two world premieres, two regional premieres, and the return of an acclaimed Forum production. For the fifth year in a row, Forum will be in residence at Round House Theatre Silver Spring.
Reptiles, fairies, and giants abound in Imagination Stage's 2013-2014 season of professional theatre. Its upcoming season features two world premieres: Lulu and the Brontosaurus, a musical by local author Judith Viorst, and Cinderella: the Remix, the final play in Psalmayene 24's hip-hop trilogy.
The NATIONAL NEW PLAY NETWORK (NNPN), the country's alliance of non-profit theaters that champions the development, production, and continued life of new plays, proudly announces the commission of four podcast plays by DC-based playwrights, to be presented during its 2012 National Showcase of New Plays. Short works by Paige Hernandez, Jacqueline E. Lawton, Stephen Spotswood and Gwydion Suilebhan will be recorded onto iPod Shuffles and depart the Woolly Mammoth lobby in four directions - respectively, North, West, South and East - at all hours during the Showcase, November 29 - December 2.

P.Nokio, written by hip-hop theatre artist and playwright Psalmayene 24 and called "inspired and quirky" by The Washington Post, updates the classic Pinocchio story with a new beat for today's audiences. Made possible by a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, this Helen Hayes Recommended musical enjoyed its world premiere at Imagination Stage this past February and a successful tour to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in March.

The Kennedy Center today announced Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical will make its international premiere at Arad Fort in Arad, Bahrain as part of Spring of Culture, the nation's largest cultural event, March 22-23, 2012. Additionally, Kennedy Center Tour General Manager Deirdre Lavrakas will lead three educational theater workshops from March 19 to 21 for teachers and grade school students in Bahrain. The production marks the first-ever international appearance for the Kennedy Center's Theater for Young Audiences (KCTYA) on Tour series.

Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical tells the story of toddler Trixie who has a beloved stuffed bunny, which she misplaces while on a trip to the laundromat with her slightly disheveled dad. Luckily, she finds the stuffed animal and speaks her first words: 'Knuffle Bunny!' The production is a story about family, best friends, baby steps and memories that last a lifetime.
