Nashville Children's Theatre will play host to the  Kennedy Center Theater for Young Audiences On Tour production of Knuffle Bunny: A  Cautionary Musical on Monday, October 17. Performances will be at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical tells the story of toddler Trixie who has a beloved stuffed bunny, which she misplaces while on a trip to the laundromat with her slightly disheveled dad. Luckily, she finds the stuffed animal and speaks her first words: "Knuffle Bunny!" The production is a story about family, best friends, baby steps and memories that last a lifetime.

With music by Grammy Award-winning composer Michael Silversher, six-time Emmy Award winning author/illustrator Mo Willems adapts his Caldecott Honor winning children's book Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale into a family musical. Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical is directed by Rosemary Newcott, Director of Theatre for Youth at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre. The production is recommended for audiences ages 4 and up.

The cast includes Tia Shearer as Trixie, Paul Edward Hope as Dad, Brittany Baratz as Mom, and Jonathan Atkinson and Andrea Washington as Puppeteers. Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical features set and puppet design by Kat Conley, projections design by Ryan Wineinger, costume design by Kate Turner-Walker, lighting design by Jeff Bruckerhoff, sound design by Ryan Gastelum, and choreography by Paige Hernandez.

Shearer, who plays Trixie, is familiar to NCT audiences. She played Anne Frank in NCT's 2010 production of The Diary of Anne Frank and also held roles in NCT's Bambi: A Life in the Woods and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing.

All performances are open to the public, and reservations are recommended. Individual ticket prices are $12 per child (ages 2 to 17), and $19 per adult. Group discounts are available.

New York Times best-selling author Mo Willems is best known for his Caldecott Honor picture books, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, and Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity. His radio work includes stints at BBC Radio and NPR's All Things Considered, where Willems occasionally serves as a radio cartoonist. Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical is his first book adapted for a musical production.

Composer Michael Silversher is a Grammy Award-winning songwriter (Elmo in Grouchland), with three primetime Emmy nominations, two for Winnie-the-Pooh and one for the Muppets. He has worked extensively with Jim Henson Productions, MGM, Sony, Warner Bros., Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre Programs, The Learning Channel, Los Angeles Opera, South Coast Repertory Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, Sundance Institute as musical director of the children's theater, and resident composer for the Playwright's Lab.
