JOURNY Travels to Cuba and India in First-Time Deal with Espresso Media

Ovation TV, America's only arts network, has acquired the non-exclusive U.S. digital rights of two titles for its AVOD travel and culture channel JOURNY. The first is Havana Curveball (1 x 60'), a beautiful documentary from directors Ken Schneider and Marcia Jarmel about baseball, United States-Cuban relations, and Holocaust history, rolled into a coming-of-age story about the complexities of doing good. The deal for Havana Curveball also includes linear rights to air on Ovation. The second title, for digital rights only, is The New Creative India (8 x 30'), a documentary series offering an insight to the world of contemporary Indian design, art, mixed-media, jewelry, fashion, and body-art. The announcement was made today by Elba Flamenco, VP of Platforms and Content, Ovation.

RIVIERA Season Two is Coming to Ovation

Ovation TV, America's only arts network, has acquired the U.S. broadcast rights for the second season of the Julia Stiles-led drama series Riviera (10 x 60') from Sky Studios. The arts network also signed a deal for the first season of Hooten & the Lady (8 x 60'), which will debut on Ovation's AVOD travel and culture channel JOURNY. The announcement was made today by Scott Woodward, EVP Programming and Production, Ovation.

Ovation Deepens the Mystery with Eleven Titles from DCD Rights

Ovation TV, America's only arts network, has acquired the non-exclusive U.S. broadcast rights for eleven mystery titles from DCD Rights. As part of the network's Mystery Mornings block, the deal includes two seasons of McCallum (9 x 90'), three seasons of Rebus (10 x 90'), drama series The Code (6 x 60'), drama series Missing (2 x 90'), and drama series The Strange Calls (6 x 30'), plus six films: The Mystery of a Hansom Cab (1 x 90'), The Poison Tree (1 x 90'), Bloodlines (1 x 90'), A Model Daughter: The Story Of Caroline Byrne (1 x 90'), Safe House (1 x 90'), and Venus & Mars (1 x 90'). The announcement was made today by Scott Woodward, EVP Programming and Production, Ovation.

Skylight Theatre Company Has Announced its 2020 Season

Rubicon Theatre Company Presents West Coast Premiere Of NEVER NOT ONCE By Carey Crim

Rubicon Theatre Company of Ventura begins the new year with the West Coast Premiere of NEVER NOT ONCE, a powerful, compelling and timely new drama by CAREY CRIM. The production premiered earlier this season at JEFF DANIELS' Purple Rose Theatre. NEVER NOT ONCE previews February 5-7 and opens February 8 at Rubicon's home, 1006 E. BWW Review: AUNTIE MAME SENDS AN ODE TO CLASSICS, PROVES TO BE A BUMPY BUT NONETHELESS ENTERTAINING ROMP at CARROLLWOOD PLAYERS THEATRE

Auntie Mame not to be confused with Mame the popular musical version tells the story of the life of Mame Dennis and her orphaned nephew Patrick over the course of 18 years of time. Mame Dennis a swinging and very progressive woman with a zest/zeal for the finer things in life is left to be the guardian of her late brothers young boy. Teaching the boy about the finer things in life and a laundry list of new vocabulary Mame leaves nothing to the imagination for this young boy to be brought up in a world unlike that of which he's known. The script by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee is based on the novel by Patrick Dennis; which lends itself to some funny, touching, and endearing moments.

Vineyard Theatre Announces Updated Preview Schedule For DANA H.

Vineyard Theatre Artistic Directors Douglas Aibel and Sarah Stern announce dates for Dana H. by Lucas Hnath, adapted from interviews with Dana Higginbotham conducted by Steve Cosson, and directed by Les Waters. Previews will begin on February 11 (previously February 7) at Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) with Deirdre O'Connell reprising the title role for the New York premiere direct from engagements at Center Theatre Group and The Goodman Theatre. Opening night for Dana H. is set for February 25.

Mat Diafos Sweeney is the recipient of the 2020 Dorothy and Richard E. Sherwood Award announced at the 2020 Ovation Awards on Monday January 13, 2020. Given in memory of Dorothy and Richard E. Sherwood, the $10,000 award aims to cultivate innovative theatre artists working in Los Angeles who push formal and aesthetic boundaries and demonstrate dedication to improving their respective artistic fields. The two additional finalists, Sigrid Gilmer and Alexandra Meda, will each receive a $1,000 honorarium.

Chance Theater's LIZZIE, THE MUSICAL Wins The Ovation Award For Best Musical

Chance Theater's regional premiere of the punk rock Lizzie, The Musical won the LA Stage Alliance Ovation Award for a?oeBest Production of a Musical (Intimate Theatre)a?? last night at the 30th Annual Ovation Awards. The ceremony was at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. 

Madcap Musical THE ANDREWS BROTHERS Announced At International City Theatre

International City Theatre opens its 35th anniversary season with a madcap musical salute to the swinging '40s. Written and created by Roger Bean (The Marvelous Wondrettes, Life Could Be A Dream), and with director/choreographer Jamie Torcellini at the helm, The Andrews Brothers opens on Feb. 21 at ICT's home in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Performances will continue through March 8, with two low-priced previews set for Feb. 19 and Feb. 20.
