Free Jazz on the Move Series Continues, March 15 and April 19
The Nashville Jazz Workshop and the Frist Center for the Visual Arts present the popular series, Jazz on the Move, that feature a combination lecture and performance, presented by some of Nashville's top jazz artists and educators. The programs take place on a series of Sunday at 3 p.m. in the auditorium. All performances are free and open to the public. This series is made possible by an Arts Builds Communities (ABC) grant from the Metropolitan Nashville Arts Commission in cooperation with the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Performance Network Theatre presents staged readings of new plays from local playwrights at the Fireside Festival of New Works. The Festival runs Sunday, March 15 through Wednesday, March 18 at 8 pm. Plays include: BLACKWATER BALLAD (lyrics and libretto by Joseph Zettelmaier, music by Brian Lillie), THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY (Barton Bund and Walouisa Hubbard), THE TOYMAKER'S WAR (Jennifer Fawcet), THE STRAWBERRY & THE KAISER (Lizzi Wolf ) and JARVIS BECOMES POE (Jake Christianson). Admission for all shows is a pay-what-you-can donation.

Tectonic Theater Project will be hosting a benefit performance and post-performance reception honoring the Broadway Premiere of Mois?s Kaufman?s new play, 33 Variations starring Jane Fonda, Samantha Mathis, and Colin Hanks on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Eugene O?Neill Theater, 230 W 49th St., New York City. The Post-Play Reception following the evening performance will be hosted by Morgans Hotel Group at Royalton, 44 West 44th Street, and catered by Valrhona Chocolates.

EXIT Theatre, San Francisco's downtown indie home for new and alternative performance, announces its 2009 DIVAfest, featuring the work of established and emerging women writers, directors, and performers. The 8th Annual DIVAfest runs at the EXIT Theatreplex, 156 Eddy Street, in downtown San Francisco, Thursdays through Saturdays, April 2nd through 25th.
Featured at this year's DIVAfest is a fully staged production of An Affair of Honor, the latest play by Lee Kiszonas, directed by Kathryn Wood.

D. Keith. Featuring actors from the graduating class of the A.C.T. M.F.A. Program and young actors from the Young Conservatory, Volleygirls spikes a spirited, heartfelt look at a down-and-out high school volleyball team. Following a string of losses and facing their biggest rival, the girls of Saint Agnes hatch a wild plan to turn their flailing team around-while their self-defeating coach must confront his 'loseritis.'

Celebrating its 40th Anniversary, T. Schreiber Studio will present a production of Tom Stoppard's dazzling romantic comedy The Real Thing at The Gloria Maddox Theater, 151 West 26th Street, 7th Floor from February 19th to March 29th.
Directed by Terry Schreiber, director of the Tony-nominated play K2, as well as The Trip Back Down (starring John Cullum) and Devour the Snow on Broadway, The Real Thing is Stoppard's multi-layered look at love, passion, adultery, and marriage. The full-scale, profession production will feature members of the T. Schreiber Company.
La MaMa Umbria International to Present Play Excerpts from Writers' Workshop Feb. 18-19

On February 18 and 19, La MaMa will host an open house, 'New Voices Heard,' featuring a sampling of eight plays that were developed during the summer of 2008 in the La MaMa Umbria International Playwrights Retreat. This free event will take place at La MaMa La Galleria, 6 East First Street, Manhattan (between Second Avenue and Bowery), Manhattan. Admission is free. Excerpts of eight plays will be presented. Seven will be staged readings and one will be fully acted.
