BWW Blog: Ed Dixon of L'HOTEL - Week of Rehearsals in Glorious Pittsburgh
by Guest Blogger: Ed Dixon - Oct 28, 2014

Monday, October 20 Day off. I had been hearing about "The Strip" ever since I arrived so Deanne Lorette aka Sarah Bernhardt and I trundled off to have lunch there. The surprise is that it's not some Vegas area as you might imagine from the name. It's a very down home neighborhood with a lot of local produce and outside markets. One set of stalls looked like something you might have found in Omaha in the 1950's. Surprising.

BWW Reviews: MY NAME IS ASHER LEV Sparks Dialogue in Emotive Performance
by Amanda Etchison - Oct 27, 2014

Irish writer and playwright Oscar Wilde once said, "Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known." But in a culture where art is considered a distraction from religious duty and where individual desires often come second to the strict observance of tradition, how can artistic expression prevail? This question forms the basis of "My Name is Asher Lev," a 90-minute stage adaptation of Chaim Potok's 1972 book of the same name.

BWW Blog: Ed Dixon Returns in Pittsburgh Public Theatre's L'HOTEL
by Guest Blogger: Ed Dixon - Oct 21, 2014

In my cranky old age, I have become virtually phobic about all means of public transportation, an odd affectation for someone who has spent his entire life zooming from one theater to another across several countries. My dear friend, Nick Noone knows this about me, so when he learned that I was about to start rehearsing my new play, L'HOTEL at the Pittsburgh Public Theatre, he offered to drive me both to and from. He did this in spite of the fact that he lives nowhere near Pittsburgh or New York City. This has prompted me to refer to him as Mother Teresa del Auto Spirito.

BWW Reviews: Whip-Smart Philosophical Comedy DISCORD Presents a Battle of Wits for the Ages
by Shari Barrett - Oct 17, 2014

DISCORD brings three great thinkers together in a room which appears to be a holding cell for heaven. They enter according to the time period in which they lived: first Thomas Jefferson, then Charles Dickens, and finally Count Leo Tolstoy. When each enters through the only door, it closes and locks, blocking the only way out. Thus begins their examination of why they have been brought together, what they could possibly have in common, and how can they possibly escape? It's a blistering battle of wits for the ages.
